Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

There are those who think Ivan is an innocent victim and those who think otherwise. It’s actually easily proved. Publicly offer him a 2 year extension. If he accepts it then he’s truly on the bus. If he turns it down, it means he’s a hostage on his own bus and is only staying because he has to. I think they need to do this, to stop this hanging over our head. If I wanted to come and play for Ivan, I’d be sure to have a “coach clause” at this point.

The damage is done to the Tigers by Penrith. Ivan stated It is common knowledge that my son Nathan and I have acknowledged our desire to work together at some time," he said."That remains the case."

If I had to guess Gus will try to get Bennett on a 2 year deal with Ivan coming in 2021.
If Nathan signs with Penrith it will confirm it.
Uncle Wayne may be smarter than Gould na demand a 3 year deal.

Our recruitment which, is key will suffer Ivan can’t confirm to anyone he will be here more than 2 years which, usually wouldn’t have any impact but given this nonsense about coaching his son it will hurt the club.

You say, "If I had to guess Gus will try to get Bennett on a 2 year deal with Ivan coming in 2021." I say: speculation upon speculation ! What we do know (I think) is that Ivan has no time for Gould and his brother-in-law has said that Ivan would never go to Penrith while Gould was there. So, fit that into your speculations !

You say: "….Ivan can’t confirm to anyone he will be here more than 2 years....". And so what ? Are you saying that all other NRL coaches can confirm their tenure. You'r overstating the case. There would not be many NRL coaches (if any) who can "confirm" that they will be at their clubs for the next two years.

You should give all these speculations a rest and enjoy the ride.

Best part “The best chance Wests Tigers have of ensuring Ivan Cleary’s long term commitment is to convince Nathan Cleary to join the club, as a motivation for Ivan returning to Penrith is to avoid coaching against his son”

Who writes this garbage. It would be his only motivation.

Attention all snowflakes; Get this through your thick skulls, Cleary has done nothing wrong. Take your pitchforks and your kool-aid and go after the people who started all this bs. Namely Gould, and the penrith board.

If you have any tar and feathers left over, head down to NRL headquarters.

The rest of us will be supporting our team over the next four weeks, win, lose or draw.

If Ivan’s account of the saga are correct, he should be sueing the pants off Gould for deformation.

Gould said for all to hear, that Ivan said he was very interested in 2021 and would talk to the Tigers re 2019…..and it was Cleary’s idea of trying to link up sooner than later.

Now obviously someone is telling porkies and you have to ask yourself who would you believe and for me it’s not Gould.

Although I still think a lot of things are being kept in-house and so they should be

Is there a reason why you cant just share with us what it is you know or the rumour you have heard?

Wouldn't be surprised to see Ivan stick around beyond 2020…

I hope your right willow….not because ivans a great coach which i dont think he is yet but i want him to prove me wrong....we just need a stable club...we have been through hell as a club...we just cant sustain any more controversy....we now need to look towards strengthening a few crucial positions

Finally agree wit you SC.

Cheers russ…yeah im trying to be a bit more positive and constuctive on here

As hard as this weeks been for us diehards i feel its been a great week for us…its been shown we now have a strong front office that has gained a lot of respect marina and pascoe showed we are no longer a basketcase as betrayed by some...a lot of players hopefully will now consider us as a great club to play at....plus we made a few penrith cheifs look pretty stupid

They seem to be on a downward spiral on the field. Yes they are winning, but these great comebacks are against teams out of the 8\. If they don’t improve, then bow out meekly in the semis, they will panic. Do they then stick it out with Ciraldo for the next two years, or will they seek out an established coach. Any established coach should be smart enough to know they will be a pawn. An established coach could push for longer than 2 years, but even then, the club has already shown they aren’t above sacking a coach mid contract. This could go down as one the biggest balls ups in recent memory.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

*IVAN CLEARY ON THE BUS TO PENRITH*

The Penrith Panthers are set to announce the signing of Ivan Cleary as head coach of the Penrith Panthers from 2019 and beyond for the next 4 years. A transfer fee will be paid to compensate the Tigers.

This now results in the Wests Tigers going after former South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire for 2019 and beyond.

Thoughts?. People criticised me when I first posted it and now it's a reality, thanks 👍.

Clearys presser was downright lame ..

He read from a pre written statement lol

He obviously been offered a gig from the Panthers and when Pascoe and the board knocked it on the head he was upset !

That’s why it’s taken him a week to stop sooking and front the media !

Now he’s said he will see out his contract…

What else was he supposed to say ??

When he goes in 2 years you’ll all cry poor why the club didn’t release him

You are spot on, some of the delusionals on here only hear what they want to hear.

You two have shown throughout this entire thread that you have very little clue as to what is really going on behind the scenes - but hey, if speculating makes you happy then keep at it.

Wouldn't surprise me if an extension for Ivan is being looked at …for a guy who has a 45% win record and whist improvements have been made hasn't really proven anything..... would mean we have learnt nothing from Sheens when ironically the same club courted him we shat ourselves and extended only to sack him a year later...

You ain't a bit concerned that he was made to say that by the Tigers board by the look of his body language during the conference?

I'm not concerned in the slightest and its barely ruffling Geo's feathers. But we try not to make assumptions either.
