Ivan Cleary

Instead of a fine or a rap on the knuckles the NRL could at least have made Cleary take his star crock recruits, Packer and Reynolds, off Wests Tigers' hands.

I was running water for my son's under 12s side a few years ago and the game was getting out of hand, the other side was racing up in groups and belting our boys and a lot we're getting hit high to the point where the kids were scared to run the ball because of the intimidation.

After I ran out to attend to the 4th or 5th kid that was hit aggressively high I had a few words to the ref, I didn't look at him but I made sure he heard what I said which was something like "someone needs to take control of this game before someone gets seriously hurt" he replied by saying "you can't talk to me" and I said "good you heard what I said then".
At this point he left the field and reported me to an official and I was ejected from the game immediately, I wasn't allowed on the field at all.
Now as I said I never directed what I said to anybody in particular I just said it in his vacinity and I never swore, It seems Ivan has sworn at him and directly aimed it at the ref.

Why wasn't Ivan ejected like I was?

Because he’s coated in Teflon

Just another example of the favoritism and corruption of the current administration.

Ok so Cleary gets off but more and more people are waking up to the fact that these guys arent running a fair league.

Their days are numbered.

Wouldn't put it beyond the pumpkin head Andy Raymond to embellish what was said..

Surely not, I seen Ikin asking Raymond on the live telecast, and Raymond saying he can't repeat what was said, so I guessed it was swearing

Was it directed at the match officials or his player to pass on a message..

Andy Raymond said it was directed at Klein, he was adamant about it too

I really hope so, a competition where every team is treated the same, and are investigated the same and punished the same would be nice, a salary cap that is really equal, not just supposedly equal, one day

‘**Someone should be sacked’: Paul Kent’s all-time NRL spray over Ivan Cleary let-off
A fired up Paul Kent has called for “someone to be sacked” in an all-time spray at rugby league’s governing body.**

July 31, 2019 8:07 FOX SPORTS
NRL 360 co-host Paul Kent blows up.

The blow-up came in response to the NRL letting Penrith coach Ivan Cleary off completely for allegedly approaching referee Ashley Klein in the tunnel at half time over the weekend.

Cleary is alleged to have sworn during a brief address towards Klein, and he later admitted in his post-game press conference that he did speak to the referee in that moment.

But a three-day NRL investigation ultimately found insufficient evidence to sanction Cleary, given the referees did not report the incident and Cleary claimed to have only spoken to his player James Tamou.

Kent was unhappy with the NRL’s lack of action over the incident which he said Cleary openly admitted to post-game.

“Someone should be sacked over this,” Kent said.

“The commission need to sit down and say to the (NRL) administration ‘what the hell is going on there?’.

“The inconsistencies, the favouritism, the agendas, the public massaging, to try to illustrate they are doing a good job in there just highlights how out of their depth they are.”

During the 2016 season, Roosters coach Trent Robinson was fined $40,000 for a heated exchange with referee Ben Cummins, and subsequent comments in his post-game press conference.

Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has also been fined multiple times in the past for comments made about officials.

Kent believes the NRL went soft on the Cleary decision, when they had a chance to make another statement.

“I have no faith in the NRL administration and this illustrates why, because it is policy on the run,” Kent said.

“All along it’s been about we’ve got to be proactive rather than reactive, and instead we sit there and we get dealt crap like this and we get asked to believe it.

“It’s to the game’s detriment, and it’s those fools in (the NRL) think they can sit there and con us all.”

Yeah my team has been smashed with injuries already in training camp, so I'll just be suffering another tough season.

The referees should go off and make a stand over this

They should threaten to strike the 1st week of semis , understand this won't be a popular thought , but someone needs to stand up

Of everyone involved in the game ......they could hurt the most

There is no consistency in the management of the game, one week someone gets 3 weeks for a dangerous tackle, the next week someone else get jack. Maguire got away with eye gouging twice, George gets 12 weeks, (he deserved it). Cleary's lied to the review committee, going on why he said in the after game press conf, how in hell did he get off. It's a joke, I agree with Kent, time Greenberg was moved on.

I've stopped watching any games but ours a couple of months ago, went from watching 3 or 4 games a week to just one. For the first time in many years I watch more AFL games per week than I do league.

Greenberg just had a coronary saying that the comp would not be fair if it was ran like that

Our problem is, they're not fools and they know they can sit there and con the vast majority of us. We buy it again and again or let it slide.

The NRL really is a piss poor product. It looks all good on the surface with its flashy ads and state if origin fluff, however, I wish I had a crystal ball to see how the NRL looks in 5 to 10 years. I know for a fact that most clubs lie about game attendance numbers for the networks to advertise (18000 at a game is more likely 13000.) The fans are seeing through the rubbish and looking elsewhere for their sporting fix. Eventually it'll be a 6 team comp, sounds great.

The problem is what can anyone do about it? Nothing! The clubs, the players, coaches and fans have just had to wear all these inept and unfair decisions by this incompetent administration and many teams’ seasons are already over this year because of it. The only ones happy are the favoured half a dozen clubs, who rarely get punished for any indiscretions and always seem to get decisions go their way.

It’s going to be a very boring spectacle in years to come (if it isn’t already) if this trend is allowed to continue with the same favoured teams in the running to win the comp, year after year, while the rest just continue to make up the numbers.
