Do you know why? Money? Never really wanted to come here and was hoping for other offers eg rabbits?

Lol seriously the dogs are crazy ! Their team is horrendous , Flanagan Cotric and addo Carr will not change that . They have no halves , and no 9 , and now , if the figures are to be believed , 2.25 mil locked up of their cap in 3 wingers . ( cotric is a winger IMO) . That’s insanity . DWZ has already failed as a fullback , cotric wasn’t much chop there when he played , and addo Carr is 50 /50.
The deal we offered was Smart money , and fair money. Their pack cannot go forward , they’ve signed no one to improve that , and actually we have signed their most elite junior away from them. I don’t see the big deal sorry . I would have loved to have given him a go , but I wasn’t confident he would have stuck around in the 1 at all. IMO he will be wearing 5 by mid next year .
From all accounts we have some elite backs coming through , so I say if he takes our deal awesome , if he wants more money , awesome , I wish him all the best .
That team as it stands will not win football games. And I’m supremely confident our issue was the middle defensively , of which I think we will shore that up , with already better signings . I’m ok with Mbye wearing the 1 honestly . Doueihi is clearly our 6 moving forward . And as of right now in a spine position Liddell is infinitely better than Anybody they will trot out in their spine , including JAC .


I tend to agree and compare it this way.
We were in negotiations with Tamou prior to finals football and he committed a 2 year deal to us and also made it known in his speech wishing the panthers moving forward all the best.

I would have thought we would have tabled a deal to JAC around the same time and all we have heard is on going negotiations about player swaps, Souths and Bulldogs interests then nil decision until after the GF then maybe origin.

With the November deadline looming its an easy decision if you have not taken up the offer by then we look elsewhere.
We allow the Player/Manager 1st option to play for the club if there not interested then play elsewhere.

JAC would be a good signing however considering negotiations are protracted like Mitchell it is sounding like he is also looking elsewhere, just pull the offer on the 1st, speculation finished and options decreased, it also shows we are a club that wants to build the right culture with Players that want to play for the club not just the best deal on the table.

JAC hasn't done anything wrong. He apparently agreed to terms with us and signed a declaration of intent to sign a contract with us once he was granted a release with the Storm. Our management have fumbled around in talks with the Storm. Should have had this sorted weeks ago.

I think JAC is a very good winger and I’d love to see him back in our colours but he’s an unproven commodity at fullback and the club appears to be wisely offering what they think is good value. At the end of the day, without improvements in the halves and having Liddle or Simpkins or whoever doing a job at hooker we could have two flyers on the wings and get nowhere.

If he wants in, awesome. If not, so be it...

My opinion on on JAC. I would love to have him but we can't blow the bank on him.
Wingers are the cream on top for good sides. It is still all about the spine. Look at the top 4 sides.
JAC is not going to turn around a club in my opinion, not will any winger. He will make a difference, absolutely, but I would not count on his signing catapulting us to the top 4. Therefore ,we should make a reasonable offer, and be prepared to walk away if his demands are too high.
Imagine $800k, plus losing tatau? Also need to factor in missing games for origin etc and I really can't believe some people's "sign at all costs" thinking.

Until Madge settles on his spine, we will be stuck in the same position.

This also applies to the dogs, can't believe they would pay more than already reported.

No elite player will come to us for “good value” another sub standard season will just make it harder. We need a marquee signing to improve our appearance to other prospective targets. In regards to overs, does anyone think we paid “good value” for Joey Leilua

Matt Burton is already a key target, and now Canterbury has drawn up a Panthers priority list which includes NSW State of Origin stars Stephen Crichton and Isaah Yeo.
It comes after the Bulldogs signed Penrith assistant Trent Barrett as head coach and aggressive Panthers forward Jack Hetherington.
While Burton is Canterbury’s main choice, the Bulldogs are closely monitoring Crichton and Yeo, who come off contract after next season.
The developments come as Canterbury confirmed the signing of Sydney Roosters halfback Kyle Flanagan to a three-year deal. A Burton-Flanagan halves combination could -potentially lift Canterbury into a top eight contender.
All NRL players coming off contract after next season can be officially approached from this Sunday.
Should they sign Burton, Canterbury hope he may arrive for next season although there is no indication Penrith would offer an early release.
The Daily Telegraph has also learnt Melbourne, North Queensland and Wests Tigers have an interest in Burton. Matty B is one of the few who are legit. It is rare for him to straight out say things. He is like The Pom in that sense. He normally just posts what he has heard.
