Do any of our insiders have an update on JAC? Starting to crap myself with all this JAC to the Bulldogs talk

He has backflipped on us...I mentioned this last week...

Do you know why? Money? Never really wanted to come here and was hoping for other offers eg rabbits?

He indicated he was happy and gave us many verbal assurances with our 4 year offer and it’s reported structure, then last week indicated he is has gone cold on us....

Oh well.. so be it.

Much like the Latrell negotiations last year. Sit tight until a better team makes an offer. The fact we haven’t made Semis for so long, makes us undesirable. Well have more funds next year but will have completed a decade of no Finals, we won’t attract elite players then either. This isn’t being pessimistic, it’s being realistic. Telling prospective players “we have the 6th best Corporate Revenue” doesn’t appear to be working. Elite players won’t join a mediocre side unless we offer overs. Someone tell me how this cycle ends

On top of this Madge will probably get sacked next season because the squad is so bang average it’s not even funny

we will wish we are bang average ..probably not bog average

Plodderville here we come

Tamou will save us

Don’t forget Reynolds and mbye

Packer too ?

Decoys are just as important as real runs

Well we can’t keep them guessing On the field so why not make our highest paid half play reserve grade to mess with them.

although I absolutely want JAC and the club will offer him what they believe is good value, I'm a big believer in wingers that cost next to nothing and possess enough speed and skill to finish off opportunities in the corners and defend well enough.

if we don't end up with JAC then Gebbie (providing we do sign him) and Kepaoa are both ready made options that can step up, same goes for Saab if he hasn't already gone to Manly.

NRL 2020: Bulldogs target Isaah Yeo, Stephen Crichton after Kyle Flanagan signing
It’s no secret Matt Burton is a key target but new Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett has two even bigger Penrith scalps in his sights. Canterbury’s growing hit list here.
Matt Burton is already a key target, and now Canterbury has drawn up a Panthers priority list which includes NSW State of Origin stars Stephen Crichton and Isaah Yeo.
It comes after the Bulldogs signed Penrith assistant Trent Barrett as head coach and aggressive Panthers forward Jack Hetherington.
While Burton is Canterbury’s main choice, the Bulldogs are closely monitoring Crichton and Yeo, who come off contract after next season.
The developments come as Canterbury confirmed the signing of Sydney Roosters halfback Kyle Flanagan to a three-year deal. A Burton-Flanagan halves combination could -potentially lift Canterbury into a top eight contender.
All NRL players coming off contract after next season can be officially approached from this Sunday.
Should they sign Burton, Canterbury hope he may arrive for next season although there is no indication Penrith would offer an early release.
The Daily Telegraph has also learnt Melbourne, North Queensland and Wests Tigers have an interest in Burton. Barrett was at Canterbury’s Belmore headquarters on Monday but after a long year at Penrith has taken a week’s holiday. He has a strong relationship with all Panthers players. Penrith has the most talent of any NRL club coming off contract after next year, including Burton, Crichton, Yeo, Jarome Luai, Kurt Capewell, Mitch Kenny, Spencer Leniu, Brent Naden, Josh Mansour and Zane Tetevano.
Yeo and Crichton could command salaries of between $500,000 and $600,000 a season. The Panthers are desperately hoping to retain all their grand finals stars.
Crichton’s brother, Bulldogs winger, Christian, comes off contract at Belmore after next season. While wanting to be strategic, Canterbury will have some cash to splash for 2022. Other NRL star players coming off after next season include Kotoni Staggs, Dale Finucane, Jahrome Hughes, Mitchell Pearce, Nathan Brown, Blake Ferguson, Maika Sivo, Jarome Luai, Dane Gagai, Adam Reynolds, Junior Tatola, Cameron McInnes, Corey Norman, Angus Crichton, James Tedesco, Daniel Tupou and David Nofoaluma,
They can receive offers from midnight on Sunday. Tedesco is shortly expected to announce a new five-year, $6m deal at Bondi.
Canterbury remains hopeful but not overly confident of signing Melbourne and NSW star Josh Addo-Carr. The club is insisting they have not yet made him an offer.
Addo-Carr is attracted to South Sydney but would be unable to play his preferred fullback spot at Redfern because of good mate, Latrell Mitchell. Wests Tigers also remain a chance of signing Addo-Carr.
Barrett is a huge fan of Addo-Carr. All negotiations have been delayed given Addo-Carr will be in NSW camp for the next four weeks.
Canterbury confirmed 22-year-old Flanagan’s signing on Tuesday ¬morning.
“Kyle is a quality all-round footballer, who will bring game management and a strong kicking component to our halves, as well as having the potential to grow as a player under Trent Barrett and his coaching staff,” said Bulldogs CEO, Andrew Hill.
“We are putting together a squad that has the right qualities and everyone is excited about getting back together for the pre-season in what we believe is a new beginning for the club. We can’t wait for Kyle to be a part of that.”

What happened to Barrett not raiding the Panthers talent? That was short lived. He will be on the Panthers most hated list.

Agree... Also if the JAC wants to go to South is correct We must put a deadline on this as we cannot wait another 4 weeks to be burnt again... We are not a doormat and if he wants our money and fullback spot he needs to grow up and make the call..

My opinion on on JAC. I would love to have him but we can't blow the bank on him.
Wingers are the cream on top for good sides. It is still all about the spine. Look at the top 4 sides.
JAC is not going to turn around a club in my opinion, not will any winger. He will make a difference, absolutely, but I would not count on his signing catapulting us to the top 4. Therefore ,we should make a reasonable offer, and be prepared to walk away if his demands are too high.
Imagine $800k, plus losing tatau? Also need to factor in missing games for origin etc and I really can't believe some people's "sign at all costs" thinking.

Until Madge settles on his spine, we will be stuck in the same position.

This also applies to the dogs, can't believe they would pay more than already reported.

I just don’t get the difference between jac and Latrell why offer Latrell 1 mill and not JAC

Similar players who haven’t played 1 in nrl before

Do people actually think the Storm would be interested in Smith? If that was the calibre of player they're after we would have already made a deal. He's bog average.

You look at the dogs and they have
DWZ on 800k
Hopoate 600k
Cotric 650k
that's three expensive outside backs as it is.add in Thompson on 850k, Jackson on 700k, and the likes of Elliot and Hetherington on 450k and you'd have to wonder where the money for Addo carr would come from. Especially when their halves are crap, they have no hooker and an average pack. If they sign him they must have almost ten players on minimum contracts.

And that dope on the Souths forum is more nug gnikoms than pin. All.over the place, and if he was mates with Barrett would he really be revealing his source like that? No, the guy's a clown.

And the rumoured addition of Flanagan.
"As expected Kyle Flanagan off to the @NRL_Bulldogs." per Weidler, tonight.

And on a million a year - something doesn't add up.

Agreed. It was reckless to offer latrell that. I think we dodged a bullet (pun intended) there.
Maybe they saw more value because of goal kicking?

Lol seriously the dogs are crazy ! Their team is horrendous , Flanagan Cotric and addo Carr will not change that . They have no halves , and no 9 , and now , if the figures are to be believed , 2.25 mil locked up of their cap in 3 wingers . ( cotric is a winger IMO) . That’s insanity . DWZ has already failed as a fullback , cotric wasn’t much chop there when he played , and addo Carr is 50 /50.
The deal we offered was Smart money , and fair money. Their pack cannot go forward , they’ve signed no one to improve that , and actually we have signed their most elite junior away from them. I don’t see the big deal sorry . I would have loved to have given him a go , but I wasn’t confident he would have stuck around in the 1 at all. IMO he will be wearing 5 by mid next year .
From all accounts we have some elite backs coming through , so I say if he takes our deal awesome , if he wants more money , awesome , I wish him all the best .
That team as it stands will not win football games. And I’m supremely confident our issue was the middle defensively , of which I think we will shore that up , with already better signings . I’m ok with Mbye wearing the 1 honestly . Doueihi is clearly our 6 moving forward . And as of right now in a spine position Liddell is infinitely better than Anybody they will trot out in their spine , including JAC .

I tend to agree and compare it this way.
We were in negotiations with Tamou prior to finals football and he committed a 2 year deal to us and also made it known in his speech wishing the panthers moving forward all the best.

I would have thought we would have tabled a deal to JAC around the same time and all we have heard is on going negotiations about player swaps, Souths and Bulldogs interests then nil decision until after the GF then maybe origin.

With the November deadline looming its an easy decision if you have not taken up the offer by then we look elsewhere.
We allow the Player/Manager 1st option to play for the club if there not interested then play elsewhere.

JAC would be a good signing however considering negotiations are protracted like Mitchell it is sounding like he is also looking elsewhere, just pull the offer on the 1st, speculation finished and options decreased, it also shows we are a club that wants to build the right culture with Players that want to play for the club not just the best deal on the table.

To be fair Melbourne have also had a hand in the negotation process which has not made this as simple as us negotiating simply with JAC/manager.

It's the player that wants to break his contract not Melbourne, it sounded all to messy from the start a player swap deal, then wanting to play another position.

From all reports the deal i heard that the Tigers offered was reasonable, Bulldogs splashing lots of coin around wondering how they can afford it when board a rabble.

Rather keep faith in Hartigan/Madge to build a roster that complements positions we require not what players dictate they want, even if we miss out on JAC which in all honesty seems likely if no decision after GF.

But the release was based on a like for like swap which we havnt to my knowledge been able to satisfy.

But did the like swap **have** to come from us?? Doggies might be just clearing the decks and saw an opportunity
for both parties.

Melbourne can choose who to release him to as far as I’m aware so if dogs offer them a player they’ll release him to them

I've never seen that reported anywhere - what i have seen is Melbourne will release him from his contract if they can get a player of equal value to them. Melbourne can't choose to release him to anyone - they can only choose to release him from his contract or not.

He needs to make the decision and if he decides its not us than that's fine but don't come crying back in 4 weeks time when other clubs won't have the space in cap for him. It's like anything in life ... You see something that's on sale you want but the sale ends that week so you either buy it now or you take the risk of paying more for it down the track when you need it.
I have been all aboard for JAC for a while now but with all this media rubbish and him in no hurry you just get the feeling we were just a bargaining chip. Quicker this ends the better for us all

Agree- dont wait the 4 weeks. Give him till midnight Sunday and then we can talk to all the free 2021 season end players as alternates.

Who are?

Sorry not clear- of he is not coming (decided by not signing by deadline) just quit looking for a marque for 2021 season and look to the ones coming off contract end of 2021 season. Agree with the though of strengthening backrow and making do with backs.

How can he sign without a release?

Whoa slow down Tony
