Wests Tigers will meet with Josh Addo-Carr’s agent on Thursday to try sort out one way or another if the flying NSW winger will be at the Tigers in 2021.

Addo-Carr has told his manager Mario Tartak that he just wants to get through Wednesday night’s State of Origin II in Sydney before making a final decision on where he will be playing next season.

Tartak also has a meeting with new St George Illawarra coach Anthony Griffin set down for Tuesday to try and negotiate a release for young winger Jason Saab to hopefully join Manly before preseason training starts back next week.

Meanwhile, it is understood Addo-Carr has told Tartak that he wants to know where he will be playing next year before next Wednesday’s Origin decider.

It gives the Tigers one last crack at landing the player now rated the world’s best winger, but it must be said their chances don’t look too crash hot going into the meeting.

Addo-Carr has already committed to a heads of agreement with the Tigers that if he comes to Sydney next year it will be to play under Michael Maguire.

But there is an increasing likelihood Addo-Carr will stay at Melbourne to see out the final year of his existing contract.

That would then allow him to open negotiations with rival clubs for 2022 and beyond immediately after Origin is finished.

Understandably, other clubs are already circling given the recent speculation that Addo-Carr may be having cold feet about joining the Tigers.

The Tigers’ reluctance to cut a deal with the Storm so far and hand over either Tommy Talau or David Nofoaluma certainly hasn’t helped their case.

Melbourne is also now in deep negotiations with Canterbury’s Reimis Smith for next season but that doesn’t necessarily mean Addo-Carr can’t stay.

The Bulldogs are one of several clubs who would be interested in signing Addo-Carr for 2022 and beyond.

Sigh. Shooting ourselves in the foot but I won’t get into it again ? thanks for the repost.

End of the day even if he wanted to come here more than anything in the world, Melbourne need to release him.

So why do you think they are meeting with his manager?

Could be them figuring out a way to get him a release, could be figuring out if he actually is happy to stay at Melbourne or if he wants to go to another club. Hopefully they get to the bottom

If it's all about getting out of HOA to join another Syd club tell him to enjoy next season at the storm

We tried to do right thing by him and if he jumped on board but crapped it at the last minute for a better deal that's his problem not ours

He has had the opportunity to be back in Syd fully realised from the very start offered by the tiger's and if he doesn't like it than suck it up mate

Of course it could all be media crap but anyway let's see

What I just don’t understand is why he’d be so happy to join us that he’d sign a HOA, then change his mind just a few weeks later. What would’ve changed his mind? Doesn’t make sense to me, maybe he’s just dumb lol

I don't know anything about this meeting, was honestly just asking Josh's opinion. I think this meeting must be about determining if he wants to be at Wests Tigers or not. Then we can decide on our next step.

You may have noted that I mentioned a ‘heads of agreement’ was signed awhile ago BUT no official contract.
Well, the same mail has just told me that JAC is a done deal !!!!

Player swap involved?

All I can say is, he has been on the money every time. The breakdown that the Pom was talking about Was spot on (regarding JAC’s pay structure) but he didn’t mention that it was a heads of agreement is what JAC signed..(hence the long pause when JAC was quizzed on tv)Well, that same person has told me it is a done deal. I can’t reveal the source for obvious reasons.

Oh , I thought you had good mail , which is why you seemed pretty dejected over the last few weeks . I personally think JAC doesn’t care , and it will be down to how many games the Storm are playing .
I also think the Cameron / Grant situation is also playing into this ie. if cam plays on , and we do sign grant (somehow) , that it’s all shenanigans .

So Melbourne are releasing him without a swap? Or are they happy with reimis Smith and George Jennings

This HOA might have saved us. If we didn’t do it the dogs would chase him hard but now he will come to us

Fingers crossed your mail is correct!

Bit of dejavu unfortunately.

There are advantages in having a pretty good law firm as your major sponsor. That "heads of agreement" is now looking like a very smart move.
