He’d be a great signing, but by no means a game changer. That fact this thread has 350 pages shows how desperate we are.

People say the Fox would lose at lot of cred if he decided to stay in Melbourne for 21 after all the stuff about family and being disconnected...I say water off a ducks back, he or his spin doctors will tell the world about being loyal etc etc. I say never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Anyway Melbourne will be happy, Souths will be happy and it’s back to the drawing boards for us

Melbourne winning the comp was the worst thing to happen in our negotiations with JAC I reckon. If they had been bundled out in the preliminaries I believe he would’ve already signed with us for next season.

Winning changes everything, it would be very difficult for him now to just walk away from his teammates and the commeraderie that was built up over the season to take out the prize, especially in a year like this one where the team had to relocate to a whole new state and live together in a bubble. The emotion and relief was running very high at the end of that GF, they came together and won it for Victoria, a state that has been under siege all year because of Covid.

What JAC needs to also realise is he won't ever be in more demand than he is right now. He has a lucrative deal that only needs a signature and a drop in form and or injury next year if he decides to stick in Melbourne could detract from his worth. There are no guarantees that the figures being suggested now will be offered next year, and every club is only one game away of unearthing the next young winger to take his spot.

HOOPER WARNING

TIGERS’ PLAN B IN ADDO-CARR CHASE

Speaking of phone calls, interesting to hear Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe gave out-of-favour Penrith winger Josh Mansour a shout last week.

Does this mean Mansour could be headed for Concord? Possibly.

Pascoe knows first hand what it’s like to be left out in the cold by Ivan Cleary.

With Josh Addo-Carr’s management tipped to officially tell the Tigers thanks but no thanks for 2021 on Thursday, Mansour may well end up under Michael Maguire.

The Storm have reportedly upped Addo-Carr’s deal from $350,000 to $480,000 for next year.

Unsurprisingly, literally everything mentioned here seems to be wrong.

Exactly. It’s the most speculative article with zero substance I’ve ever read.

Pooper - 1 + 1 = 3.

Mansour in 2021 will be a poor man’s Nofoaluma

If he can score as many tries as Nofo wouldn't be a bad signing for one or two years as a plan B we've signed a lot worse.

We need to give our Younger players an opportunity otherwise they will get disillusioned rather see Nofo and Kepaoa on the wings next season. BJ if performs and Talua in centres, AD and brooks in the halfs that leaves Momi as a possible fullback option as he has the height - Still Thin in the backs if we have injuries.

if we don't get JAC or Laurie a year early, M'Bye will probably end up as our fullback. even if JAC signs for us I don't see him starting the year at the back. 2 months isn't enough time to learn a new position.

Well i tend to forget about Mybe based upon his performances from last season and really at times looked like he did not really want to play for the team.

He did play fullback and thought he played well but all the extra running meant his knee could not cope and did not see out the season, Option yes but also see him as a utility player and not a captain but a good valid point.

He had a very forgettable year. He’s not a centre, not a back up hooker and not a captain. We now know that much for sure.

The best footy Mbye has ever played was at the start of his career at 5/8. He has also looked dangerous in attack at FB, but shaky under the high ball.

So it’s either 5/8 (I think Doueihi is more promising), fullback (dependant on JAC or even Laurie), or bench spot.

Depending on how things go with Liddle and Simpkin I’m not sure there’ll be a spot for him there either.

The first thing Madge has to do is remove the captaincy from him. We can’t afford to have to force him into the team just because of the C.

We need to be ruthless now. Madge’s career and reputation is on the line over the next couple of years so I’m confident he’ll make the tough decisions.

$650k for JAC would still be a reasonable price if Nofo is a 450k player

If I were Nofo on $450k and found out JAC had been signed for $650k, I’d be filthy.

Don’t get me wrong, I want him here but no way is JAC worth 200k more.

On a clean slate I think Nofo is worth $550k and JAC $600k.

Rubbish, they're in different classes.

Against the Storm, Addo Carr made Nofoaluma eat dust in the long range try. He's anSOO and Kangaroo rep. There is a reason and it is obvious to the objective supporter.

*It’s D-Day in the Wests Tigers’ pursuit of NSW Origin winger Josh Addo-Carr.

And it’s the signing which could finally catapult the club into the finals and end a miserable nine-year top-eight drought.

The Tigers will meet with Addo-Carr’s agent, Mario Tartak, on Thursday to try sort out one way or another if the Melbourne Storm star will be at Concord in 2021.

Tigers great Robbie Farah has thrown his support behind his club’s bid to lure Addo-Carr back to the club where he made his debut in 2016, although he is yet to secure a release from the final year of his contract with the defending premiers.

Farah played alongside Addo-Carr in Tigers colours and has no doubt his return would be a major asset for the joint venture as they attempt to end the longest finals drought in the NRL.

“He’s the best winger in the world at the moment,” Farah said.

“He’s got natural speed and competes on every play and he’s definitely someone you want involved in your club, so I’m hoping if he does move to Sydney it’ll be in Tigers colours.”

The Tigers’ back-up plan, should their Foxx hunt fail, could involve a move for veteran winger Josh Mansour, who was told he had lost his starting spot at Penrith for next season.

Addo-Carr has already committed to a heads of agreement with the Tigers that if he comes to Sydney next year it will be to play under Michael Maguire.

But there is an increasing likelihood Addo-Carr will stay at Melbourne to see out the final year of his existing contract.

That would then allow him to open negotiations with rival clubs for 2022 and beyond immediately after Origin is finished.

Meanwhile, former Tigers skipper Farah confirmed on Tuesday he would return to the club in 2021 with the premiership-winning rake tasked with moulding the joint venture’s next champion hooker.

With rising star Harry Grant returning to Melbourne after completing his loan deal, the Tigers hooking role shapes as a battle between rookie Queenslander Jake Simpkin and the talented but injury-prone Jacob Liddle.

Jacob Liddle has missed a fair bit of time through injury.

Replacing Grant, the runaway choice for rookie of the year, shapes as a tall order for either player, but they couldn’t ask for a better teacher than Farah.

The club’s most-capped player is refreshed after 12 months away from the game following his retirement at the end of 2019 and is ready to return and help mould the Tigers’ next generation as part of Michael Maguire’s coaching team.

“It’ll be predominantly a corporate role with sponsors and game days, but I’ve also been communicating with Madge about doing some work with the team on a part-time basis, some specialist stuff with the young hookers and middle forwards,” Farah said.

“It’s something I’m keen to do and I want to help out wherever I can.

“There’s Jacob Liddle, who I spent some time with there when I was playing, and Jake Simpkin, who the club has high hopes for.

“I’m looking forward to getting involved, giving those boys tips where I can and educating them on what it takes to be an NRL player week in, week out.

“Not just with the skill aspect, but also the mentality so they can develop their games to the point where hopefully one of them can be the next 10 or 15 year hooker at the Tigers.”

Liddle has managed 43 NRL matches since his debut in 2016 but has struggled to shrug off a variety of knee and shoulder injuries.

The 24-year old played five matches in 2020 after returning from a torn ACL.

Simpkin has been part of the club’s long-term future for some time and the former Queensland under-18s representative will be elevated to the club’s top squad for 2021.*

Great, media saying if we sign the fox we are automatically a finals team.
Damn just the pressure we needed... 😬 a couple of other good signings and we are.
