Melbourne are prepared to entertain another 12-month loan deal to fast-track Josh Addo-Carr's move back to Sydney.

As Addo-Carr lined up against his likely future employer on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday evening, The Sun-Herald can reveal the Storm have warmed to the idea of finding a short-term fix to replace the "Fox", rather than hold out hope for a like-for-like replacement.

V'landys confirms larger crowds for NRL finals

NRL boss Peter V'landys has confirmed larger crowds will be allowed for the upcoming finals.
The Storm have already made it clear they will not release Addo-Carr from the final year of his deal unless they are able to sign a suitable replacement. The talent available for next season is scarce, but improves dramatically in 2022.

Popular Wests Tigers winger David Nofoaluma is at the top of the Storm's wish list, even though Tigers coach Michael Maguire has already gone on record about having no interest in releasing one of his stars.

"No chance – there's no way in the world that Dave's leaving," Maguire said earlier this month.

There is nothing stopping Nofoaluma playing for the Storm next year and then returning to the Tigers in 2022 when the club will have freed up plenty of salary cap space with the departures of Josh Reynolds and Russell Packer.

Penrith's Brent Naden is another player who has been discussed by Storm officials. Naden, however, would be seen as a longer-term prospect as a centre or winger.

There has already been contact between Naden's management and the Storm. The youngster is off-contract at the end of next year and any move would give Penrith the freedom to re-sign off-contract outside back Charlie Staines.

Turns out , Bellamy confirmed it was us tonight being the club the storm ceo was whinging about this week. We won’t give up the player they want. I wouldn’t give up nofa either if it’s him . The blokes one of the few with josh Aloiai , who bled orange, black and white . We will need that moving forward . The storm are taking the piss really . They release a bloke , he says he wants to go to us , then They ask for the world in return . A release is a release . Especially when they signed him Away from us to begin with .

No way, I’d like to see them playing in our team together. Give them Mbye, he’s an Origin player, even if it was by default.

At least nofo would get a taste of finals footy

It's not about comparing them, it's wanting both. No point having JAC on one wing and a Jennings on the other. A combination of Nofo and JAC is what we want, and if we can pull it off like that that's what we should be aiming for.

Good on our management.

And RE Talau, you'll probably be the same people complaining about why we let him go in a few years ala Paps. He is VERY young and inexperienced, if the Storm really do want him (and its just a rumour as far as I know) that says a lot about him and his potential.

Again, if we can get JAC without caving in and giving someone in return - good management.

Let it play out.

but but now listen Nofo us a great guy ....
not in the same league as JAC in speed or defence only die-hard tigers supporters are so blinkeredhen it comes to Nofo.
He is a very solid player with some defensive issues but he is not in the elite winger class like JAC.
If it came down to a year swap the do it tigers

It's what a decent club should do. Why would they budge? Exactly my feelings about us with Matterson, and Parra then made the smart decision and didn't release our prop to us early either. Why would you? They have contracts. Just because we cave in again and again, doesn't mean other clubs are dumb enough to do so.
