This way if he is still on our payroll, we can claim the concession down the track, Nofoaluma will definitely come back an even better player and we get JAC
Nofo can go there full-time for JAC. They're not in the same class.
The only people who think Nofo is in the same galaxy as JAC are WT supporters.
It's not about comparing them, it's wanting both. No point having JAC on one wing and a Jennings on the other. A combination of Nofo and JAC is what we want, and if we can pull it off like that that's what we should be aiming for.
Good on our management.
And RE Talau, you'll probably be the same people complaining about why we let him go in a few years ala Paps. He is VERY young and inexperienced, if the Storm really do want him (and its just a rumour as far as I know) that says a lot about him and his potential.
Again, if we can get JAC without caving in and giving someone in return - good management.
Let it play out.
Storm will give in they don't want a disgruntled JAC next year
What makes you think that? I think the exact opposite. Sorry JAC couldn’t find a replacement, you’ll have to stay and honour your contract.
It's what a decent club should do. Why would they budge? Exactly my feelings about us with Matterson, and Parra then made the smart decision and didn't release our prop to us early either. Why would you? They have contracts. Just because we cave in again and again, doesn't mean other clubs are dumb enough to do so.
What makes you think Melbourne is a decent club? That’s not what I would call Melbourne.
Decent: of an acceptable standard; satisfactory.
Yep, they smash that out of the water.
In the press conference with Bellamy they mentioned that this is 5 top 2 finishes in a row.
Outstanding! But people wanting to deride their achievements due to cap cheating years ago don't see it. But turn an eye to our cap cheating . funny
Let's get this straight - we did not cap cheat.
Everybody new what we were doing, we were not hiding anything - it was widely reported.
We did however not advise the NRL. It was NOT cheating.
Poor form to suggest we were in my opinion.
Aahhh, we did.
Of course we did. Hence the penalty and the de-registration of JP.
I disagree, I say we did not cheat. We made a bad administration error, which the NRL said could have been manipulated, hence was against their rules, hence the penalty.
It could have been used to cheat, hence why they penalised us, but there was no proof I ever read that it was us actually cheating and getting an advantage from it, or trying to get an advantage from it.
By the letter of the (NRL) law did we cheat, yes. By the definition of the word, most definitely not. We stood to gain no benefit whatsoever. I'd hesitate to use the word cheat too, even when describing the NRL's perspective. Rather we simply overlooked the process and did the wrong thing.
If there is no advantage or gain to any party it would be very difficult to call it cheating. An error yes, but cheating no.
An inducement to leave is an advantage, he also came back 18 months later, so someone could argue the inducment was to return to the club.
Fair enough but really all they did was they failed to fill out form 1534J Section 3 Subsection 4. It was an error.
If for example the Roosters were in the same situation and offered a player on $950k a future job, that they didn't tell the NRL about, so he would leave, and then 18 months later he came back on a much reduced contract would you be ok with that?
I'm not saying that was what we were intending to do but from the outside looking in it can be argued that is how it appears and would set a precedence that other teams could take advantage of.
Everyone knew, they were not trying to hide it. The NRL, Turdberg in particular, got their noses out of joint because we didn’t file the correct paperwork. It was a ridiculous fine/punishment for a very minor error. No one was trying to cheat anyone.
There is a reason the NRL wants to know as it is an area to be exploited. The rules are simple to follow, we didn't follow them and then we asked for compensation for Farah being disruptive despite the fact we had an offer for him to return.
It was well known, they could have just picked up the phone an sorted it out. But no they had to take the look at us, we’re in charge and we will tell you what to do and officiate to show you who’s boss approach. It was a ridiculous response to a very minor error.
