Sick of being a laughing stock. Give him a deadline and if no contract is signed, move on.

Who is laughing at us? Why are they laughing at us? How would a deadline fix anything?

Tbh all my mates give me mates banter for supporting Tigers haha. Saying all our good players don't play good till they leave us haha. But no one is laughing or even cares or talks about JAC rumours except Tigers fans. No one is laughing at Tigers or giving a toot about it. Just us

I think that the player managers are. I will dangle the morsel and let the tigers beg for it while I shop them around other clubs. If I can't get him into the club he wants to play for, at least I will get him overs at the retirement village.

For all you know JAC has been done for weeks and everyone involved has agreed to wait for the Storm's season to be over before announcing it. There's really no need for anyone to spit the dummy at this stage.

I have thought about that too
But if nothing is in place and we are being played, then we should dangle carrots in front of a few other players
I hope Madge and the club aren't silly enough to have all our carrots/eggs in the one basket

Its a bit like fishing
Use a few lines at the same time to increase your chances of catching a big fish
If you hook one real it in
Once you run out of bait stop fishing till you can afford more
The important thing is not to use all you bait on the one hook

What a depressing day of JAC news... Even Benji on Fox thinks we are no chance..
And we thought we had him..... I was not interested at first but it grew on me and what a mistake that was.. No wonder @THE_POM has gone missing as doesn't want to share the bad news..

I would love Harry to stay, but there is seriously no way it is possible. People all act like Cam plays on = Harry a Tiger.

But the actual equation is Cam plays on = Harry is a free agent.

And, just listening to Benji now also, he would build a franchise around him. The kid will be getting offers of 700-800 a year. We simply can't pay that as things stand.

Re JAC, yeah Benji def did not sound confident.

Whilst we are on Benji...interesting he thought Madge's training was great / mentioned some young players had issues and need to be treated individually.

Benji having a Good old dig At his previous employer. Came on in civilian clothes all in black as he has no club to promote looked depressed.

He’s just giving his takes , as per his new employment requires .
He’s probably depressed because he’s realised his days of playing first grade are done .

I really don’t appreciate him airing the clubs laundry.

Im with you.
IMO Benji bit the hand thats fed him for over a decade, basically labelling Madge as one dimensional and out of touch with the "younger generation"
He just doesnt get it,is somewhat bitter, and frankly we'll be better off without his dissenting voice in the dressing room(and maybe one or two others as well)sending mixed messages
Plus a little bit shadenfreude talking up Harry knowing full well we arent going to get him
He needs to let it go

? mate.

Hopefully Madge keeps these players away from the club.

Do players make these comments about belemey?

Benji is such a fluff commentator hopefully Simpkin shows everyone who we can really centre a team around.

Even if we don’t sign him I don’t see how chasing him is a waste of time. Not like there’s any other talent available to sign right now and he’s exactly what we need. Not a waste of time to try sign good players at all a lot better than not trying at all!

It is not trying to sign them that is the problem, the problem is not landing any of these signings, that is the bad look and waste of time, media are all over us again. Yes we signed Tamau, but we offered 2 years, and for him to keep his kids at the same school and not move, we were the only real option

How is it a waste of time when there’s no one remotely as good as him on the market. We aren’t missing out on anyone else because of it as far as I can tell, clubs meet with players all the time and don’t sign them it’s just business

Close this tread he is not coming , I stated here before , Souths will use the rooooters play book and sign him, we need to move on

I think we should keep the offer open, but still target other players that will improve our team
If we spend our money, then we pull our offer
I wouldn't be standing around waiting for one player
We could have offers in front of half a dozen players
Who knows

But let me say this
No one on here knows exactly what's going on
If they are privy to this information it is not being shared with us
Nor should it be
Its hard for us to be patient being Wests Tigers supporters
I think many of us are concerned we will miss the boat again

What laundry , he set the record straight . That some of the younger boys were playing within themselves because they were worried about losing their job . Do you remember the drama a few weeks back about this ? He basically poured cold water all over it , by saying what we all know . And actually , talked about how the strong training was good for him , as he saw improvements in his game .Hes a media pundit now , with fresh takes because he just retired . This is what they do , in any sport .

I said it earlier and I will say it again,I dont care if JAC comes here or not,if he was fair dinkum that he wanted to be with family and get back to Sydney he would of told his manager to talk to the WTs and get the best deal he can because he LOVES THE TIGERS ....not the vibe Im getting from reading this thread,I can say that 80% of this thread is emotionally based because JAC is a star at the storm surrounded by star players.,we had him but he left because of bad management etc etc....
He wants a bundle of money to play for us in a position he is untried at,he may be an origin winger with origin players around him,but in the club format like ours he may be the worst ever ,its a punt we cant afford to take..
to me he is an out and out winger and classy finisher, that has been his role from day dot when he left us...the wanting to play FB in my opinion comes from his mate LM because he wants the FB position when he really is an outstanding centre...and got what he wanted..now Bennett has to make him play FB because thats what he was contracted to play..
Its all a load of crap to me ,if he comes he may end up a failure like others before him or he may be pretty handy but at about 700/800 k its a big punt...

Agree with that, because if we didn’t chase the best players then we send the wrong signal.

That can be said of any signing, the fact is he is an elite player, we need some elite players, do you recall what he did to us when we last played the Storm.

Regardless of whether you’re fishing in the puddle of the woolies car park or the mouth of the Barron, your choice of bait and the timing is always the key to your success.
I’m sure the recruitment team @ WT knows the value in having a few lines on the go simultaneously.

Agree, Installing a deadline with no other reason but to simply create urgency could be seen as manipulation and therefore should be avoided. Another way to create urgency in this situation is to create competition. Competition between applicants creates its own deadlines. But I’m sure we all know this. If the reasons for delays are valid then all you can do is be respectful and be patient.

The only noise around JAC is related to Souths' issues with their young potential superstar. That should be enough of an indication to suggest our club is right up there in the mix for his services.

Leave his offer there

But put in offers for the likes of Staines and Burton as well

If we get them and than have no room for JAC just notify him to say their is no more deal and let the media know as well so he can no longer use our offer as leverage for a big deal elsewhere

In actual fact, after he was dropped absolutely nothing changed in in either his feeble defence OR risky unstructured attack.Same issues arguably got worse, because its always about him…and still is

I always thought Farah was the most selfish player I've ever seen. Benji is getting up there. I don't think he will ever get to Farah's level but it's not a good look.

Those two have a lot of growing up to do.

We should be going after JAC hard and not putting any deadline on him. My impression is that he is ready to sign but Melbourne are hopeful they can get some cover which they won't.

I would also be offering other contracts and Staines and Burton look like good options. I'd like to think we can sign all 3 but let's just see what happens.

Benji has a part time media gig(temporary I suspect as hes incapable of objective analysis)so he's likely to be the gift that keeps on giving!
