Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but.

If JAC is like his friend and good mate Dogshot Mitchell, then JAC has got no problems with Mitchell's playing us like chumps last year, and JAC would then have no trouble in playing us like chumps now.

But maybe JAC is the better man. Maybe he saw the way his friend acted, and knowing about Mitchell's advisors and family and responsibilities, he thought Mitchell did the best he could. And now JAC himself will show him how to stand up and treat people with respect.

Or maybe JAC knows his window of opportunity in this game is limited, and he knows now is the moment he is at his best and this is his best opportunity to set himself up for his whole life.

I hope we joins us and becomes an even better player.

The thing is our perception of the truth is filtered by media crap. Mitchell didn’t play us at all. We approached him, had a conversation, realised it was a non event and we moved on as did Mitchell. That’s what happened. I don’t know much but I know that to be true. Everything else was garbage written by media fools. I didn’t know this at the tome and was beside myself with stress!
The lesson learned was that we cannot take ANY comfort or angst from what the media spin. It’s all crap.
Maybe JAC will sign, maybe he won’t, maybe it’s already done. I don’t know.
What I’m becoming more confident in is that we are conducting ourselves professionally in attempting to recruit good players. It’s hard because our infield performances have been poor for years. Chicken and egg!
Personally I’m not confident we’ll get JAC but like nearly all of us (despite what some egos would have you believe) I really have no idea

I'm hoping we get him. Hope being the primary word.

Is it just me or does Fitler seem to have caught Goulds thinks he is more important than what he is thing

I used to like Freddie and his attitude, but now, Yes he is becoming Gould 2 and full of himself.

All ex players on Channel 9 have massive egos and Fittler is now one of them and Gallen is a so called expert. Maybe at performance enhancing peptides

Only his employe calls him an expert

Wow, read that last sentence totally wrong.

I remember when LM was looking for a new home, all sorts of figures were flying in the media. He eventually signed on at Souths for $600k.

Well if you think about it
If a player receives a sum of money from someone he is not playing for, how can it be included in the cap
Eg
A person receives $500,000 on Monday, call it appearance money as a guest to a Farm to talk about cow dung
That person signs a contract on Wednesday to play for souths
Well that Person legitimately earned that money outside of football
Maybe a relative spoke about their knowledge of cow dung

It’s more believable to think that Rusty is a very smooth talker with a line for every occasion. Certainly more than a match for young impressionable footy players. Keary wasn’t impressed though?

That’s why the salary cap is useless. There are a 101 ways to rort the system. Teams like Souths and the Chooks who have some very wealthy people in their corner have no problems assembling star studded rosters without having cap problems.
Anyway been done this track a million times but we need a new system, like a point system

What we have now is rubbish. A points system at least has the possibility of working. We know what we have now, doesn't work.

I'm not saying a points system would be better, personally I don't think there is any one or group who in the NRL that would decide the points in a fair just way. But I encourage though those trying to think of a better way.

We have to try something because as the cap stands now, it is not working
Something needs to give
For a club like ours to offer a Latrell Mitchell an apparent $1,000,000+ contract per year, only to have that rejected for a $600,000 per year contract stinks
Something is not right
Who gives up $400,000 a year or 40%+ to play with your mates
That is just not believable
$8,000 a week ?
All these players taking pay cuts to be with there mates
Aren't they mates outside of football
They can still go out for dinner or go fishing with their mates like normal people
What's Leichhardt a 5 minute drive to Redfern

Something stinks and we all know it
Except the NRL
Maybe they drive nice cars or go down to Rusty's farm.
I can't see anyone sacrificing $400,000 or 40% to play with his mates

The talk at the time was WT offer was nowhere near $1m. I’ve been curious ever since, considering Madge stating ,after LM signed with Souths, that WT will not be paying overs to anyone. I always thought he signed for 1 season at $600 with a club option for year 2 at $800? Politis chased Souths for the $120k paid to Mitchell during the circus. Not sure, but I think it was paid.

Take this points system dribble elsewhere

It doesn't have to be a points system
A market value would be fare
And this would only need to be used when a player is looking at changing clubs not being re signed at his existing club

I have said it many times before
If a player is worth an average of $1,000,000 on the open market, then that is what should and must come off the clubs cap that signs him
That club can pay him $200,000 for all I care
But his market value must come off the allocated cap
That is the only way that we will achieve a fair and even competition
You can not rort a system like that
It stops clubs from stacking talent which is the cause of a lop sided competition
