Take this points system dribble elsewhere

It doesn't have to be a points system
A market value would be fare
And this would only need to be used when a player is looking at changing clubs not being re signed at his existing club

Would last five minutes in court if the Players Union (or someone willing to payroll) challenged it. Clear restraint of trade.

Can a $9.4 million cap be thought of as a restraint of trade ?
Because the league has set that figure

What is JAC's value
$600,000 as an untried fullback?

A player has the right to earn as much as possible (we all know and understand that) and that is determined by what a club is willing to pay

Therefore the larger amount offered to a player should set a players value (not undervalued)
And that is the value that should be used and applied against the cap
Or
Think of it as $1 equals 1 point (like flybuys)
Each club has 9,400,000 points to spend
You can only get so much with your points

We can all find reasons for and against and argue till we are black and blue

But the simple thing is the current system of the cap is not working
It needs change

Thats my opinion and I am sure many others agree
The Nrl competition can be much better and this is one way of fixing it

I have thought we need a points system or draft or something else for some time. Under the current system, a club like ours is always disadvantaged as we have to pay overs seemingly all the time. And don't get me started on Third Part Agreements - Uncle Nick.

I remember when LM was looking for a new home, all sorts of figures were flying in the media. He eventually signed on at Souths for $600k.

$600k on the table.

Yep

It’s funny how a lot of souths players end up signing for unders after a trip to Rustys farm

Well if you think about it
If a player receives a sum of money from someone he is not playing for, how can it be included in the cap
Eg
A person receives $500,000 on Monday, call it appearance money as a guest to a Farm to talk about cow dung
That person signs a contract on Wednesday to play for souths
Well that Person legitimately earned that money outside of football
Maybe a relative spoke about their knowledge of cow dung

That’s why the salary cap is useless. There are a 101 ways to rort the system. Teams like Souths and the Chooks who have some very wealthy people in their corner have no problems assembling star studded rosters without having cap problems.
Anyway been done this track a million times but we need a new system, like a point system

We have supposedly one of the wealthiest people in our corner also, but we still can’t assemble squat!

Once Sheens was punted Harry went cold
They were mates ..

Where are all our big name signings then?

They are all in waiting..
Patience grasshopper ?

we gave souths time with our delaying and dithering with storm
oh well disappointing but not end of world Tamau is a good signing

He wanted Souths, what if we gave up Talau to get him and then next year he is sulking because he wants to be at Souths and walks out?

Got the feeling he is going to Redfern. Hope I’m wrong but have felt that he would end up there right from the start.
