JAC clocked 10.6 seconds over 100 metres at origin camp. He must be one of the fastest ever to play in the NRL.

Paps got 11.02 in comparison

I hate to sound like the old codger nursing his beer in the corner growling: "you call that fast, why back in my day.....". But I will.

The great Ken Irvine, who I had the pleasure of watching a number of times, was timed in a professional sprint over 100 yards at 9.3 seconds.

If he was able to maintain his average speed for the last 8.5 metres (I know it's a big if), that would have had him running 100 metres in 10.17 seconds. That's serious heat ! JAC and Paps would have been eating his dust.

Irvine debuted with Norths 62 years ago (1958). It's curious that while players have grown bigger and stronger, they don't appear to have got any faster. Perhaps the process of bulking up has reduced their speed.

I’ve been told the deal is dead in the water. He will go back to the Storm and sign with the Rabbits in 2021.

No one to blame but management for that one. If we can’t land a big signing in 2022 we are screwed

You can't make someone sign who doesn't want to be here.

He was ready to join and we couldn’t do a deal with Melbourne simple as that, there’s no other way to put it. 2022 is a long way away and I don’t blame him for not committing to us for then, footy is a business and he is being a smart businessman. If we had done a deal with storm he would be on our books already

A bad deal, you mean.

Can’t understand not wanting to give them Talau especially now Josh is willing to stay at Melbourne for another season

Unless Talau becomes an Australian level player it will not be worth it. Maybe they think that highly of him at the club

Hey Josh
Don’t be sucker mate .... it’s a game game of bluff poker.
We don’t need to give them anything that we want/need to keep.

Melbourne will be quite happy to keep him another season, they get a top quality winger on the cheap it’s much better for them. They can hold out for a swap all season long if need be

Come 2022 the entire nrl will chase him and we will have no chance.

Then that's the way it plays out.

Then we miss out on yet another big signing due to our club being dumb. Not really on board with that one

Yeah we disagree on that. I don't believe in giving up a player to sign another.

Why not if it is going to strengthen the team

Because you don't get full value out of the player you are signing, we will be stronger on that wing but weaker somewhere else. So for full freight of what JAC is worth we get all his skill but we minus what Nofa brings to the team. We don't have a ready made replacement that brings what Nofa brings so we either find someone that matches him or we lose out in that position. Now overall we end up with a net gain, but is the net gain we achieve worth what we are paying JAC at full freight.

We have offered him what he is worth with a chance to earn more. He either comes or he doesn't.

We have offered him what we think he is worth to us .
Not necessarily what his worth is,and no I whould not trade nofo but I whould tommy

Tommy thanks you for trying to up route him from his family. I'm sure he appreciates it.

Russell I get it I’m not suggesting he get up route from his family. I’m only saying it’s a trade I whould have been happy with if and only if tommy wants to .
So please of the high horse on this one

No High Horse Mate.

People on here (not you in particular) are just pulling names out of a hat and saying trade them e.g. Noffo, Talau, AD etc.
Storm said like for like (apart from Noffo we don't have a like), they don't want a FB or 5/8, or a spare time winger.
Also it is not a loan, it is a permanent trade.

That counts us out, forget the whole idea I say, let Souffs have him, not that they won't.

Don’t send it around by post. It would take 6-8 days to get to your local PO, and then delivery is only every other day.

With smith, Bellamy, JAC, Vunivalu and others leaving over the next 2 years, why on earth would you want to sign with the storm. Unless they get some plans in place it may be a disaster down there

i still don't see the issue with loaning Noff for 1 year to Melbourne and sign JAC and Noff on a long term deal. I just wonder if the loan deal with impact the 10 year discount we get

They don't want a year loan - they want a SWAP - that means it is permanent, we don't get the player back.

**+** paying top dollar. That is not a good deal, it is stupidity tig.

wouldn't the swap be for the exact number of years that JAC is contracted for?

I think if there is a reluctance to sign with Storm, perhaps it’s because it means a possible move to Melbourne? Souths players have an inbred ability for comebacks. Even when a doctor retires them. One player who went off the books recently also wants to get out of Sydney, yeh crazy right? Just saying, I for one would not be surprised if Jimmy landed on his feet at the Storm? Could Jimmy be the domino to move JAC to Sydney?

Out in the Sandman today, doing some lion taming.

I always considered the Sandman best for loin exercising.

Yes, back when I was at High School we had an industrial arts teacher who owned a burnt orange Sundowner, the model with the yellow and brown decals along the side. Our Friday class was to wash and polish the Sundowner, to his satisfaction. It was the big night out. It was boys only because the girls had to do sewing.?

There were two stickers on the rear window - Don't Laugh Because Your Daughter Might Be Inside and the favourite of all the boys for the local drive in - When The Van Is A Rockin, Don't Come A Knockin.

Pretty sure he wont be playing anywhere next season .. taking some serious time off to do some soul searching .. !! Just wondering if he has stuffed up and done something wrong so Souths are releasing him before the NRL finds out or it comes out in the papers .. ??

How can a player just be released from a contract without another club to go to? If he was sacked that is one thing but released to play somewhere else that just opens up opportunity for wroughting the cap. Surely he can't play somewhere else without South's being responsible for part if the cap? Or is he planning to take a year off - also relieving South's of cap space?

If he and the club agrees to cancel the contract they can. Mutual decision

So he gets a contract for less somewhere else and South's don't have to cover any of that on their cap?
