Jack Buchanan...

It might be a Fulton like scenario where they had to move him on to make some room in the cap, with an agreement that they will bring him back once they have freed up some space

Good outcome for both parties. Best of luck in England, Jack.

Well said. Good luck to him and it was a smart business decision by the club.

He was only contracted for the rest of this year so i doubt it

He probably saw the writing on the wall, and I think he was only signed for this year anyway?. Don't think he was ever going to set the NRL on fire. In fact I think I saw a bloke in a wheelchair wheel laps around him at Campb stadium this year….lol.

Its a good outcome for all...think he's got a better future in the ESL and we get to free up a Top 25 spot for either ET or whoever.

Maybe he can improve his game overseas and come back a better play like Sam Moa did.

Most props improve with age like Matt Scott or Shane Webcke.

For 2017 we have enough props with JJ Feilse likely to gain a top 25 spot.

If Farah can be convinced to leave at year's end and frees up some money we still need one quality second rower and one quality centre to make top 8 next year.

Also Buchanan played 40 old games of NRL the toughest sport in the world.

How many keyboard warriors and arm chair selectors on this forum has played that many NRL games?

By all accounts he is a dedicated trainer and a nice guy. For those reasons I wish him the best in the ESL. However, I could never understand why Taylor kept picking him because he had zero impact as a runner and, although solid, was a gentle defender. Put simply he was never first grade material.

Probably wasn't first grade material, but he always had a go and that's all you can ever ask. Balmain and Wests were chock full of Buchanan type players in the 90's.

Good luck to him, and I hope he kicks on in the ESL. Might find another gear there and find a way back to the NRL.

I don't know but it doesn't stop them having a go - even when the guy is leaving.

If you can't say something nice about a person when they are leaving– don't say anything at all.

He gave his best (maybe some don't think that is anything) but it is a damn lot more than some that have played for us and that got a lot more dough.

He won't free up any cap space - one minimum wage player to replace another. He will however free up a position in our top 25, which means a player who previously couldn't play to much due to 2nd tier cap problems can now play for the rest of the season without any repercussions.
