Poor guy has so much pressure on him.

Gotta say I agree with this.
All these honey dripped social media tossfests about how he has changed his life around are getting far too on the nose.
Back off and let the bloke play footy.
He will be judged on that.

I can agree with that tbh

The video was on 9 news, hopefully it surfaces soon, keen to hear it again. Thought the tweet was worth sharing. What a guy !!

Careful mate. People around here don't like positive Hastings stories. Dare we have some positivity hey.

But but but

English Super League = joke league
Man of steel = joke award for plodders
He had drama years ago with a known problem player so therefore he'll cause drama here
No NRL club wanted him for a reason!!!

Am I missing anything?

Yes, he has grown up since….

He'll have less time to consider being a problem player because hopefully the team will be winning lol.
If we are losing we'll have a problem with most of them. He's got a chance to be a star as the marquee signing and Brooks will enjoy playing a secondary role.......let's hope.

Only winning will fix this club.

I just watched the 9 interview. I hope he succeeds but please keep your mouth closed and let your play do the talking for you.

It was on 9 News early this morning.

Ah thanks mate, damit for missing it, wonder if there's a way of watching it again.
When you talked about keeping his mouth closed are you saying he spoke bad in interview or referring to his old NRL blues he had with teammates?

He can’t be captain cos he’s never played in the jersey.

I agree with this completely. Hastings has to prove himself. We've given Mbye and Tamou the captaincy and they hadn't proven themselves and they were poor decisions.

I think all the talk about not being positive towards Hastings is a load of palava. We need him to be a star and he could be.

He will be judged on that.

Exactly. He needs to prove himself on the field.

Tbf, I haven’t seen him talk up his ability, just at how good of a guy he seems to be. Which is great, you always want to consider yourself a good person, and he could potentially be a very good representative for the club. However, that’s for others to judge you on, not for you to go around proclaiming it. And I know a lot on here will say he is a good guy and want to give him marks, but we’re still firmly in the honeymoon period. If he comes out onto the field and doesn’t live up to expectations, doesn’t lead us etc, people will forget real fast what a good guy he is.

It’s all good for the Tele man, but the only guys I’ve very heard drumming into all and sundry how much of a good person they are, and how they’ve turned their life around - are guys that aren’t entirely being truthful.
It’s almost like when an addict tells you they’re clean…
Speaking on such - all the media “turned his life around” stories, you’d think he was a heroin addict or something… I don’t remember his life being that out of control - he was just a loud mouth clown with tickets on himself,..

NRL is a different ball game. The Storm and Roosters are a step up in class to Castleford and Huddersfield. Its Queensland Cup. Maybe half a step above.

Poor guy has so much pressure on him.

I don't know, he's getting a lot of support from social media, could be really good motivation for him, not pressure

Feel like whether everyone loved him or hated him he'd probably play just about the same. First real test will be in the trials, surely they play him in both

Would be good if another other half got support from social media to help motivate rather than receiving vitriol to hunt him off platforms.

I respect that you try to keep yourself above most of that on here, as the continued back patting only encourages the downward spiral of disproportionately raising of one and castigation of another.

Did those guys have newspapers a couple of years earlier screaming how much of a terrible person they were?

PS I haven't heard him once say 'how much of good person he is', only that he's learned a lot and grown a lot, which is very different.
