He played for the Roosters...

And? Way to totally miss the point of what I was saying.

What was your point?

I was pretty clear I thought. The opposition he dominated in SL are several rings below the opposition he will face this season.

He is self-evidently good enough for NRL because he has played NRL, and played well. But he was stuck behind Origin halves at the time so didn’t get as much of a chance as he could have

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire has opened up on Tim Sheens role at club and hinted at who will partner Luke Brooks in the halves for 2022.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Maguire revealed which new recruits had impressed him during the pre-season with Jack Hastings top of the pile.
Hastings has returned to the NRL following a stint overseas which saw him win the UK Super League’s Man of Steel award in 2019.
The 26-year-old made his debut for the Roosters in 2014, playing 34 games for the tri-colours before his eventual switch to the Sea Eagles. He left the club in 2018 following reports of an altercation with captain Daly Cherry-Evans and headed overseas.

This kid can play, his head was not in the right place. He was also carrying his fathers name and at the rosters that may have been too much for him to deal with.
As far as falling with Daley is concerned, from what I have heard, his is a nob.

Wouldn't surprise if this bloke turns out to be one of the buys of the year. If he really fires we just might surprise a few people.

He played really well with the roosters for memory, even if he's outspoken, quiet frankly it's what our team needs.
In the interviews I've seen he admits he was over the top before playing in England and there were reasons for that, but from all reports he's changed somewhat.
SL is not that bad a comp, as a ½-⅝ it's a great place to hone your skills because their emphasis is not on grinding forward play but more up tempo play. Great way to work on quick decisions, passing game and he's a kicker, all of which I believe he's done very well at.
The coaching staff here are really impressed by his leadership and skills displayed at training so far. Get behind the guy 100%.

Agree 100%
We are not buying him to takes hit ups or make 50 tackles we brought him here to run the team.
He is not the quickest player around but he has the one thing we have lacked for years and thats Vocal..
He consistently talks to the team on the field and controls the game and for me this is our biggest problem.

He is not going to turn us around and put us in the top 4 but if he can get the best out of the others around him and we improve as a team thats a big win.

With regards to all these fluffy stories going around I have no problems with that as it shows he has grown up as a man and can admit his mistakes unlike some.

We all need to just give him a fair go as I personally think a lot of fans will be asking for the club to extend his 2 year deal before the season is out.

What about the clubs that have been a half down for a dogs age?

Which is great, you always want to consider yourself a good person, and he could potentially be a very good representative for the club. However, that’s for others to judge you on, not for you to go around proclaiming it. And I know a lot on here will say he is a good guy and want to give him marks, but we’re still firmly in the honeymoon period. If he comes out onto the field and doesn’t live up to expectations, doesn’t lead us etc, people will forget real fast what a good guy he is.

It’s all good for the Tele man, but the only guys I’ve very heard drumming into all and sundry how much of a good person they are, and how they’ve turned their life around - are guys that aren’t entirely being truthful.

Speaking on such - all the media “turned his life around” stories, you’d think he was a heroin addict or something… I don’t remember his life being that out of control - he was just a loud mouth clown with tickets on himself,..

He'll be fine, his not just talk, got ta remember his been living what he has been saying in England.

He didn't cease to exist when he left the nrl.

NRL is a different ball game. The Storm and Roosters are a step up in class to Castleford and Huddersfield. Its Queensland Cup. Maybe half a step above.

'Ok he played for the Roosters and Manly, but while he was busy playing in all star
teams, the England national team, playing grand finals and winning awards, he didn't break his contract in England early to come and play for the doggies or the cowboys therefore he's clearly no good'

It definitely isn't a single player. The drama over Brooks is hilarious.

If he is one of our two best halves on performances he keeps his job. I have no idea why anyone would think differently to this unless they have been butthurt from Brooks or Hastings or whoever.

The club needs to make smart rational decisions not emotional decisions.

I can see Brooks not being one of our two top halves by the end of the season and I can definitely see Madge dropping him. I just want the halves picked to be based on performance and not emotion.

Of course it’s the halfbacks. Remember how we were playing finals every year before he debuted? Yeah, me either. Some want to pass it off like we were some massively successful side, playing finals, winning big games, and he came along and put the brakes on. We sucked before he debuted, and we have sucked while he’s been our number 7. He might be a symptom, but he’s not the cause.

In your opinion who is to blame for the last 10 years?

The organisation as a whole....

We fell apart when we didn't win the comp 2010-12
Then we ridiculously overpaid to keep a crop of Juniors coming through and expected them to take us to glory on their own.. Sironen, Simona, Woods to an extent....
Brooks and Moses were getting 450k when they'd played 1 game between the 2 of em, 600k in their 2nd year... Which is nuts for kids, Especially in back 2013-2014!!

This was on the back of Poor signings like Blair, Lawrence's overpriced contract not working out (600k a year for 5 years, Or whatever it was at the time) Even Farah, at 950k in 2013 is 50/50 on value for money a that time....
We were paying Heighington, Ayshford, Fifita, Gibbs and however many else to play against us.
Trying to fix poor decisions with knee jerk reactions / more poor decisions.

After all that - it's been a constant of band-aid after band-aid... McQueen, Packer, Matulino, Mbye, Reynolds...

We've never financially recovered since 2011-2012. Coupling that with a couple coaching experiments, poor business decisions from Humpty, Mayer etc, a couple disgruntled players legging it on us...

I love the people bagging on Pascoe, And their short memories....
Mayer, Humpty even Noyce before him - I know who's doing a better job.
Those blaming Pascoe for Ivans signings, fair play - he backed his coach 100%
and got railed from behind.. But he learned that lesson, And since has barley done anything untoward... So know they bag his dress sense and haircut.

He's doing his job, as is Madge, As is Brooks....
Just needs to come together - And I for one have been more confident that it will than I ever have been to be fair that is probably will.
2005 was a bit of a fluke if we're honest,
Up to here for the last 10 years, Has been hard work - and making every mistake possible.
A bit of luck, and another good signing or 2... And the WT's is a whole different vibe.

We’ve had 10 years of “once we clear the deadwood”. We do clear the deadwood, but we replace it with more deadwood. For once, our 2023 recruits are not like that. Hopefully that’s the start of a new era.

Tbf, I haven’t seen him talk up his ability, just at how good of a guy he seems to be.

It’s almost like when an addict tells you they’re clean…
Speaking on such - all the media “turned his life around” stories, you’d think he was a heroin addict or something… I don’t remember his life being that out of control - he was just a loud mouth clown with tickets on himself,..

He'll be fine, his not just talk, got ta remember his been living what he has been saying in England.

He didn't cease to exist when he left the nrl.

NRL is a different ball game. The Storm and Roosters are a step up in class to Castleford and Huddersfield. Its Queensland Cup. Maybe half a step above.

It's fine man, What are you worried about....
If it doesn't work our for him, And he doesn't fire
He can just blame Brooks.....

Like the rest of the world...

He has had a few screwups old pascoe.
Ivan, Robbie's job after footy.
At the end of the day he is responsible.
Buck stops with him and the board

Yep...
He's the only CEO that offered a marque player post football in the history of the game...
Out of all of em, He's the only one.

He's the one that did it for the WT's, And because it's the WT's - The NRL found a problem with it....
