Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that Jacob Liddle has extended his playing contract for a further season, securing him at the club until at least the end of 2019.
Liddle was already under contract for the 2018 season, and has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him in Wests Tigers colours for the next two seasons.
A former Australian Schoolboy, Liddle was a standout in the club’s Holden Cup side throughout 2015 and 2016 — awarded the club’s NYC Player’s Player award in 2015 before being selected in the New South Wales under-20s squad the following year.
Going on to make his memorable first grade debut later in 2016 against the Bulldogs, the Wyong Roos junior has featured in eight games for Ivan Cleary’s side so far in 2017.

There is a piece in the DT today about Jayden Brailey and Jacob Liddle. Both toured the UK as Aust Schools hookers and shared the hooking position. Brailey is 21 and Liddle 20 with Brian Battese providing brief comments on each player. To me, debuting behind the Sharks' pack would be considerably easier than ours which is pushed around most weeks.
Not convinced on Liddle yet - haven't seen anything at NRL level that makes me think he is going to be a standout. I expected him to come on in the latter part of each half and dash out of dummy half with some speed and evasion making breaks when opposition forwards are tired. This style of dh can really get the team rolling on with quick ptbs. Perhaps he's struggling with the physicallity and defensive load in our forward pack and this is sapping his energy in attack. MM has done a far better job in my view.

Outstanding tonight. Created a 12 point turnaround when he ran down a Cronulla back in open space with the try line open. A few minutes later he scored a try and later on he again ran down from behind another Cronulla player with the line open. He outshone Jayden Brailey.

On the few times in the second half in which we got a bit of a roll on going (i.e. quick play the balls) he was straight out of dummy half and getting great yards in behind the ruck.
His passing off the ground needs a bit of work, but he's looking good - just need to get him that go forward.
