Will be surprised if miller is around next year.. He is seeking a release atm

And so he should..Sheens has made it apparent that he is not interested …I mean Benji at 1/2 anyone that knows anything about this game can see Miller has what is required to make a first rate 1/2 in time.Goodluck to Young Miller in his quest for an NRL start because he aint getting one at the Tigers .Yep Benji at 1/2 and Anasta nat 5/8 thats moving forward.

It will be Benji at half and Sirro at 5/8.

Very Disappointing IMO, This guy is the first No 7 we have had in the system since Scott prince

Did Miller come through the Wests Tigers juniors ?
I thought he came from Easts juniors … Stand corrected however.

You read the St George forums and they are well and truly over Hornby. They are saying he has played on one year too many
It would make sense on that alone, for Miller to head over to Illawarra

The bottom line their will be clubs interested in him that are willing to give him a go and probably offer him a lot better deal than he is on now so Iam sure he will pack his bags and go. The trouble being a no7 its a bit like being a wicket keeper–their is only one in each team so if the coach has Benji penciled into fill that role its time to pack your bags

I agree SC.

However our beloved Tigers haven't had a real #7 for Years. Its my only complaint in the Tim Sheens era

For mine we should keep Miller and develop him as our long term #7\. He has all the tools to become a very good half back. I have heard a few other clubs other than the Dragons are after him (one is coached by one of the top 3 coaches in the game and his team needs a good half). I think others see the talent that we are overlooking. I have no doubt that if we let him go he will be the one that got away.

In saying that a club needs to make tough decision in relation to recuirtment and retentition and we have too many good young halves coming through the junior grades. Benji is around for a few more years, and I really like the prospect of both Curtis Sironen and Mitchell Mosses. You can't keep them all, I just hope the club makes the right decision.

I think in 2014 the halves may be:

6\. Mitchell Moses
7\. Benji Marshall
13\. Curtis Sironen

He is originally from far northern NSW. He destroyed Balmain in an SG Ball game a few years ago where he bagged 4 tries so the Tigers took an interest in him then as Peter Gentle liked what he saw.

Times have changed however.

Northern NSW so he could play for QLD then.

Because Gentle is no longer with the club 117, and I would hazard a guess that Sheens would have a far bigger controlling interest in the U20's now.

It's also quite clear that Sheens does not see him as a future half for us when he's ready to put an class, yet out of form, centre in at 5/8 and one of the games best 5/8's in at half.

I know it's extremely early days yet but I feel Siro is going to develop and end up a higher classed player than Miller, so I am happy with him at 5/8th and Benji 7\. I actually prefer it to Miller & Benji in the halves at this stage.

And we are the worse for it,Sheens has too much control and to many hair brain selections for us to be one of the elite clubs, hell just find a halfback and leave him there,so Benji can stay at 6,it is not that hard. :imp:

Some people will realise I have just copied and pasted this but I thought it seemed to go well in this thread as well…

Is anyone else drawing parallels from 2009\. Great side in the 20's. Nicholls halfback and Captain / Miller halfback and captain. Lui creative number 6 / Sirro creative number 6\. Sheens not giving the 7 a real go and favouring holding onto the six?

We bought the kid over from Easts and have given him a few runs in firsts (5 games, including v Canberra this year), so clearly there was some faith in his ability. Personally I don't think he's shown much in first grade, but I concede he hasn't been given a consistent run.

But with each year new juniors arrive on the scene and the needs of the teams change. Just ask Moltzen or Mitchy Brown or McKinnon who have all been overtaken by Tedesco.

We've tried Moltz and Humble and Benji at 7 in 10 game so far, so we are clearly not set on a #7\. You would think that if Miller was still in the mix he'd be given a go. With the new speculation about Siro Jr getting a run soon, it seems they aren't adverse to chucking a youngster in, so maybe Miller's opportunity has past. He did play U20s halfback just a few weeks ago, so clearly he is well rated at the youth level - but as already discussed in this thread, U20s domination does not guaranteed anything at first grade level. Just ask young Mullaney, can't even get a run at the Eels and they are rubbish.
