Jahream Bula #269

I don't know how anyone has the nerve to be upset at him. He was about to re-sign and then all the HBG drama happened. Can't blame a bloke for making sure his future is secured. This isn't the most stable place, is it?
It's not like the HBG drama is the ONLY drama we've had at this club in living memory. But some folks have selective vision. And memory.
The answer is Isaac Moses. Wholus Bolus, lock stock and barrel. Totally and completely. He has the precedent, yet some selectively forget that.

Gossip is starting the club is offering Bula ,just short of a million a year , on the 2 or 4 yr deal
That's desperate, if he's not happy with that and resigned b4 the season kicks of ,i wish him well where ever he ends up

I hope we put in some performance clauses. Got to have an outer if not met.
Players have get-out clauses all the time. Tit for Tat
Potential is not on for that money. He's been paid on potential for years now.

Kinda doubt the prices quoted ,as of the last few years the club has been rational and strict on the players value. Clauses just cloud the water , besides Bula has showed nothing to demand them yet .
Id be happy if he walked ,replaced by a n average FB ,(like 4 like) at 1/2 the $s and prop up the forwards
We are in a strange situation this year were basically our top team is off contract, that's going to take some wheeling n dealing to get them all to recommit, most are ripe to hit their straps in a dog eat dog world and expect a bump in salary

The hoopa finger is basically what HBG pulled out in December.

Mosses is the problem with Bulla , BUT what HBG did back in December was always going to load mosses with more power , HBG new we were in discussions with mosses for a Bulla deal , one of our up and comers who is going great , they also new doing what they did would blow up , how could they not know , sacking Barry and the directors was always going cause major drama and it did to the point PVL had to step in and Richo walked , dumb dumb thing to do , non on the HBG board should still hold a directors position as it showed how in competent hey all are , specially Burges who sat n both boards and agreed to all things presented at the football club board meetings , Now word is we are ap offering upwards to 1 million for bulla who is not worth it , $ 780 x 4 years , he hasn’t done anything yet just played some good solid nrl
There a thread for this mate. Can we keep it there.

paid overs again........, max 800k or leave him be, he ain't getting 800k elsewhere, not sure why tigers negotiators suck....

What makes the tigers so attractive that a player would take less, or the same amount offered by another club, who might have stability, success (compared to tigers) and a corporate network behind the scenes who can help players post nrl career.

Beggers cant be choosers.

Tigers want Bula for 4 years(no clauses)......Moses has talked Bula out of accepting a 4 years WT contract of any variation... Tigers have now come back with a 2 year contract...fair dinkum that Moses is
a Fink...
Who can blame bula or moses? We dont even have our CEO locked in.

I'm happy to take the small wins before the place explodes with some other drama, because theres no doubt it'll happen at some point.

Tigers put two contracts in front of Bula, will let him choose better deal

Not really sure why this is news, just part of normal negotiations. Bula is saying I want a pay rise and longevity. We are saying if you want longevity we need to think about the risk of that contract; performance and injury wise. However, we would prefer to pay you bigger dollars for a shorter contract and you can prove to us your worth. The unstated threat is of couse that we have 2 years to develop Attard; so Jahream fill your boots and we'll make a performance based decision when the time comes.

I like the move - keeps pressure on Bula and his manager. Who released the detail and why? Probably his manager so he can manipulate the media either way saying it was his influnce that got the best deal.

I'm not sold on Bula being a tier 1 fullback; he has the potential to get there - but we don't want to be tied down if he doesn't reach that ceiling. I would prefer to see a short term deal with Attart forcing him to perfrom.

I dunno about your last paragraph . Gutho was never elite tier at fullback , but he had intangibles , and fit in with the culture that the eels were extremely competitive for many years . Same for heaps of teams .
As long as we produce quality in multiple positions especially in the halves , we can get away with a great fullback who isn’t elite, but fits in perfectly to the system we want to play and the team culture as a whole .

This season will answer a lot of questions about where our future is headed. I’m hopeful .

Agree on everything you wrote. We need Bula for the next 2 years as we have nothing in the pipeline until then.
