Jahream Bula #269

Just trigger the extension. Time without drama the most important thing this year.

It's too much money, but we can save 450k in 2028 if one of the kids is ready.

I really can't see him kicking stones if we trigger it, but I feel the uncertainty will impact him performance wise. Today was ok, much better than trial 2, but at his best he does more than catch and pass for a couple of try assists in a rout like this.

Dunno . Don’t care . I just thought it would be not fair to not include him in that . As he was heaps vocal with the “Galvin is not that good” stuff . Which is ironic because now he sings his praises as being just a misunderstood kid lol .
That’s all I’m gonna say about him , as I’m sure we will be telling each other off in no time haha
I really dislike that bloke .. and I’m sure the feeling is mutual .
Tucker would be very conflicted today. One on hand the team he apparently supports won. On the other the team he’s a member of & regularly attends their games got flogged.

You’re all just doing the same thing you do with every potential player who leaves … if the tea leaves look like he’s leaving (which they don’t by the way , not until 2028 anyway) , the. You all just death ride to ease your pain.
Like all of you last year were all on the Galvin hype train ,until he wanted out became public and it’s “he’s shit “ “overrated”.
Sorry but you cannot lump everyone together.

I like Bula and I think he could be special. But he is nowhere near the finished product.

My view is exactly the same as I posted last year (before the contract shenanigans). Right now he sits toward the lower end when you rank NRL starting fullbacks.

That's not death-riding or sour grapes. You can still be a fan, while having a bit of perspective and honesty about where a player is at.

Please remember this is now his 4th NRL season and his next contract will still be paid on potential. We'd all love it if he fulfilled it here, but we've been burned travelling down that road before.

He was safe under the high ball, strong in yardage, and most importantly he was linking with all of our spine very well and set up two tries with slick passing

Luai and Doueihi ran the show yesterday, all Bula needed to do was support them and he did it perfectly

Was very encouraging to see how well all our spine linked up.

Some lucky tries in the 44 points scored, I reckon AD should have been stopped seriously, the intercept, lucky , even the ball hitting the post . Thats 18 points any other week might not bounce our way .Also the momentum with the ref blowing back to back to back six again calls really helped gas the cowboys. Take 3 tries away we still win . More wins then losses this year,we definitely looked more organised and hungry. Perfect way to start in front of a massive crowd 🐯☝️💥

Great post.

Agree with all of it 🙂

I've seen some harsh criticism of his game yesterday. I think he was solid without being outstanding. Two very good try assists good under the high bombs run metres weren't as high as some FBs but the go forward from the whole team was real good yesterday.
Wasn't in my top performers but thought he was decent.
Having a FB who catches bombs without a fuss is such a big advantage. Brisbane probably win this week if Walsh didn’t have the drops.

Lots of little things in Bula’s game that I admire.

You call it luck....I'll call it effort

AD never gave up in the tackle despite two or three hanging on to him
Romey didnt give up on his kick, he chased it hard and was rewarded

Luck gives you a chance, it's what the players made of that chance with their effort instead of ceasing trying and saying 'that's it' for this one makes the difference. And it sure did. 😀😀😀

It wouldn't say it was harsh he didn't execute that well at all. He looked rusty out there. He's not a senior rep player or a 150 game veteran, so you need to expect that early doors in a season.

I want to see him grab a game by the scruff of the neck. I want to see him change a game when we're in trouble. That's what the big bucks should get us. I don't want him to chime in and help I want him to start sh1t off. I'm happy to wait until the end of the season. My benchmark is for him to get at least 1 MOTM or a few Dally M points, or be the headline man in an important game.

He looks so graceful at times but also often not very tough. Maybe he's a bit like Brooksy and really stood out in a poor side.

I rewatched the game last night & we also blew 2 good opportunities. Plus another 2-3 half chances.

Luai back on the inside to Bula would have been close, if not a follow up play rather than Lualilli getting the ball knocked out.

Lualilli definitely out of the position on the scrum set play & knocks on.

Very promising though.

HE is alot like Will Kennedy. His style of running is never going to look like he is high energy cause his movements don't align that way.
Certainly physically has plenty of room for growth but for me great defensive FB are few and far between. Did some real good things yesterday and he is brave under the high ball which is a must in todays game.
Seen him better but did his job yesterday behind others who shined

He went well and did his job without any fuss.
His evasion when first receiving the ball ignites a lot of half chances.
With our new philosophy of ball movement through offloads, he’ll be a huge asset this season.

Mate question Drinkwater after yesterday's game would you make him an offer? In December the Cows trying to push him out for cap relief he is reportedly on 750K-850K
