Jahream Bula #269

This thread is mostly useless. Bula is a brilliant player and will get $1m + if we don’t excercise our option. Which if we don’t is dumb
There's no way any club in their right mind would pay $1 million+ for Bula. He's been pretty disappointing, it's only the past 2 weeks I've started to become just a little bit impressed by him. No club would pay that money for Bula, he's not even top 10 fullbacks in the NRL.

Lol

Hopefully to come across some positive news re the thread title
This is what I've been told by a very good source:

Bula's former manager. LA, is leveraging his right to a slice of Bula's extension, as well as negotiated 3rd party deals, to influence his current manager, IM, into talking to the Dogs post November. If Bula takes up the option, he owes LA over 100k, ( including a percentage of 3rd parties ) . That is now negotiable.

Even if Bula takes up the 1 year option, Dogs believe they will sign Bula for 2028, and negotiate an early release for 2027.

Contrary to popular belief, IM also gets a slice of all Bula's future earnings, which includes the previously negotiated extension, so 900k is getting smaller by the minute.

Bula's preference is to stay at WT, but it will cost him around 200k to not at least talk to the Dogs come November.

And we all though IM was a snake! Got nothing on Gus.

Ayoub just got the gig with PNG chiefs. So unsure how accurate that would be.

Doesnt make sense though, his former manager is now with PNG, not the dogs.

I think Bula is disrespectful, we gave him his shot, brought in Greg in to mentor him, Brett Hodgson (pound for pound one of the best fullbacks to play the game) brought into the coaching staff now.
It’s all about an extra 100k without future commitment at this stage.
Introduce Jack Attard to the interchange bench now to build up Plan B.
Maybe it’s payback for putting his wife on the slide OR a greedy manager OR a free Chinese meal with bee sting head I don’t know.

Doesn't work that way. Players don't 'owe' anything except their professionalism and skill to help the club win footy games.

If we wants to take up an offer somewhere else, or hold out for the option we put there, that's footy, its fine.

Imagine your first job at 15 being a paper boy and being told your Never allowed to leave I gave you your Start you had no experience I trained you spent time showing you the deliveries on a map and the best way to work your route

It’s not a rational argument. It’s one tied in with emotion. I doubt @TonyTiger would feel the same if the situation was reversed. Was Luai disrespecting the Panthers when we snagged him? Panthers did a lot more him than we have done for Bula.

And there's the Robbie Farah flip side to that coin as well where you're getting paid 900k a year but at times talking up big on loyalty and sacrifice -- while having clear fallings out with 3 coaches in a row.
