Jahream Bula #269

Yeah, but Moses has a dossier. (the filthy scum bag)
I'm no Moses fan, I despise the bloke but he didn't agitate for Galvin's release nor Da Silva's, that was all Galvin & his parents, who had no belief in Benji & TDS not prepared to sit behind Api, that's according to Richo.

The difference now is every player has bought in. Bula's demeanor has changed as well, he looks happy for once, he is revelling in what the Tigers as a team are doing which will go a long way when it comes to crunch time for his next contract.

Bula is miles ahead of Drinkwater in defence.

Missed Tackles:
Drinkwater: 16
Bula: 2

Tackle efficiency
Drinkwater: 72%
Bula: 93%

Bula wouldn't have been exposed to as many tackles as Drinkwater, Im not saying Drinky is defensively sound he isn't but neither is Bula. I can't really recall Bula stopping many tackles close to our line. Weekes try on Thursday was another example. I said i think he's positioning is better i don't think your stats tell the whole story.

Given PNG will join in 2028 do you think Bula will extend just for 1 year then leave for tax free $?

I don't see many clubs in the race for Bula or have the salary cap for him hence why I think PNG could be an option

If money is his motivation alarm bells should be ringing, those type of players rarely put in a 100%.

You want players that will take a little less to stay with their mates and fight for a premiership, is this Bula, guess we will find out next month.

dragons need to go for michael cheika
hornby would be an idiot to leave souths he will coach them when bennet retired you would think
That's still a long way away. But yea it would be an opening.

I think Hornby would be nuts to leave because I am seeing in Benji flickers of WB.
The whole "we need to perform to standards", did not come from Sheens. Infact Benji seemed to want to throw away the entire Sheens playbook.

It's clear Hornby is in a good position to learn a lot from Bennett. The Dragons would be wise to keep him there and have Young work on defense. But yes, WB has 3 years left and Hornby probably would get a stab at the head role.

Thinking about it. Benji has done a lot of time under Bennett.
Benji has played under Sheens, Potter, Taylor, Dragons (Paul-Mary McGregor), Rugby someone, Brisbane (Bennett).

The they will give Bula as much time as possible to accept one of two offers on the table. They will not take up the clubs option till right up to the deadline. If they took it up before Bula has made a call it could be seen as a red flag at a bull. Of course they may decide to go in another direction and allow him to go, but seriously doubt it.

I think Bula is fine, but perhaps slightly disappointing compared to what his potential was when he first came into first grade. I don't think he's markedly improved at any area of the game. Underwhelming as a ball player and while he doesn't really stifle our attack around the edges, he doesn't add a great deal to it either. Obviously a great threat in broken play with his speed and while he's generally good under the high ball, there is an error or two in his game.

He's at the level of player where you can conceivably upgrade them, but at the same time, you run the risk of replacing them with someone worse if you don't re-sign them. In an ideal world you manage to re-sign them at fair market value rather than on overs, but sadly the prospect of that will become trickier going forward with the new teams coming in. If we do re-sign him, great. If not, I'd be looking to Newcastle to try and pick up one of Fletcher Hunt or Fletcher Sharpe, especially given the news of Ponga's long-term extension.

This is what I've been told by a very good source:

Bula's former manager. LA, is leveraging his right to a slice of Bula's extension, as well as negotiated 3rd party deals, to influence his current manager, IM, into talking to the Dogs post November. If Bula takes up the option, he owes LA over 100k, ( including a percentage of 3rd parties ) . That is now negotiable.

Even if Bula takes up the 1 year option, Dogs believe they will sign Bula for 2028, and negotiate an early release for 2027.

Contrary to popular belief, IM also gets a slice of all Bula's future earnings, which includes the previously negotiated extension, so 900k is getting smaller by the minute.

Bula's preference is to stay at WT, but it will cost him around 200k to not at least talk to the Dogs come November.

And we all though IM was a snake! Got nothing on Gus.
Further to the above:

I may have got my Chinese whispers a bit wrong. He's a massive chance of going to PNG.

Why does Luai care about how his agent commission is split ? Isn’t it also 6 percent on $900k .,. So about 55k ?Does Isaac get out of bed for that?

I'm not too sure most people understand how agents work, what they actually do and how they make a dollar. I know a Broncos player who earns more than twice his contract per season, almost three times. His earnings include everything from TPD's, appearances, golf days etc. He works year round. The Big Marn has the same manager and told me he thought he was going to go broke post Footy Show until he signed with Chimes. He hasn't looked back and is making more than ever. They don't just sign contracts and see them in 3 years time.
