So what are you wanting, young a 5/8 who is a very good defender, but very limited on attack, or a young 5/8 who is a very good attacking player, but has a bit to learn in defence?
Very rare to find a 20y.o 5/8 tgat can do both.
Jack Cole is a very strong defender, based on your theory we should have bought him and hoped for a 12-10 win every week.
Api is turning 35y.o in 2027, very experienced.
Alex Twal is very experienced as is KPP, Jayden Brailey, Alex Seyfarth, Royce Hunt, Adam Doueihi and Jake Averillo.
Surely we will not be lacking experience in 2027?
If we want and expect more aggression in our players, that’s another story.
Playing a highly aggressive Taylan May inside of Makasini on the wing seems to be common sense and will surely happen in 2027 providing Taylan can stay injury free.
I do agree it’s becoming more apparent that an aggressive forward leader would be ideal. The problem being there are not many of these types of players around and obviously the reason why we are supposedly targeting Tyson Frizell despite his age.
With the emergence of some very good young middle forwards at the Knights and the obvious salary cap squeeze they will face tj keel the core of their players off the back of a successful season, I would say it’s highly likely the Knights would prefer to keep Frizell for another season on a low value contract and likely look to offload JacobbSaifiti who is supposedly on a 700k contract for 2027.
A fit and firing Jacob Saifiti is still a genuine enforcer and could be just the type of player we need.
In addition to this the Knights will no doubt be desperate to retain Bradman Best and will need to upgrade other emerging stars such as Fletcher Sharpe. Fletcher Hunt should be a prime target for us in 2028 and I think it would be a fair chance that let him go for 2027 if that happened.
