OFFICIAL Jake Averillo #?

I don’t get your second point …this has been rumoured for about a month …

IN relation to your first question … we need more than one mate…
Yes...but...what if recruitment is happening...you just don't know? Because you are just a fan. Not in the inner circle?

As in you are special, just not in this domain? More to say, maybe, the club does not grant you or fans a special right to know sooner than the club statement?

The rumour, yes...then some people started panicking after 10 days when it wasn't announced.

I sometimes forget that the club is under no formal obligation to update me personally. Both humbling and inconvenient.

We had the same discussion 12 months ago … after they signed KPP not much else followed …Bunty Afoa and Mavrik Geyer from memory… 40+ years following this team….. I don’t take much for granted ..seeing it happen is believing

Averillo is good …it’s a start ,,.It’s 1 move they have announced the entire season to date …plenty left to do

We extended all our good players to long-term deals this year...people have been tapped. Need to make the room first.

Rather keep our current nucleus than sign new faces. You don't really speak about this, but surely step 1 is hold on to what you've got?

There's a bunch of low value contracts up for grabs next year. Probably a bunch of train and trials on top of the low value ones - depending how they go, they'll be upgraded later. They usually keep 1 or 2 spots free for upgrades or opportunistic signings.

If Hunt, Seyfarth and some others find a club, you'll probably see replacements of first grade standard - these are the ones you're sweating on...the ones in the paper.

By all reports, Benji wanted Folau and he was blocked by Pearce. Dunster just got added in his place.

I mean...what is your expectation given the nature of a club managing a cap needing to wait until the money is freed up?

It's fascinating to me the anxiety this causes people.

Im worried that a lot of players and Head Coach all have contracts finishing in 2030.
If Ivan had done the same thing, maybe the new coach wouldn't have had to spend his first 2 years getting rid of deadwood and using part of his cap to pay players at other clubs?

It comes with risks, but it's only fair the new coach or Benji even can start their new contract with enough cap to buy the players they want instead of spending their first 2 seasons dumping players they don't want.

Agreed. Particularly when you see PNG and Perth with new chequebooks running around.
Heck we have been the main signing target, loosing Luai, Mavrik and the Laulili bro's.

I also wouldn't release Hunt.
Yes his output is way too low. That said, when he is on he actually stands up. Till we sign someone way better, hunt is our best option even if it's only 20 minutes off the bench.

I posted earlier where Riccio said it’s $550-$600k a year if that makes you feel any better
Not really more people are saying $700 on average and quote $800 in his 4th season. That’s detail that generally doesn’t come out of your ass. Also mentioned that several clubs pulled out as offer from tigers way to much.
I know it could all be hate tigers media talk, and hope it is. But if it isn’t than that is a crap contract and will hamper us heavily with keeping players like Latu and Andrews.
Does that make u feel better??

I’ll say now we will never find out for sure what the amount is.,like most contracts

I’m gunna go with Riccio and be happy… no reason why he is wrong …you can go wih the other unnamed people and be sad ..

For a guy who was let go by the dogs and cannot cement a start at the dolphins I don't think he's coming on 700K

Sounds like KPP all over again media 700K but is on 550K

He's not an origin player

Was watching NRL 360 last night and, seriously, those guys have no idea. Averillo was not bought as a replacement for Luai! He can play 6 at a pinch but his position will be centre. It's why we bought him and maybe to play a bit of fullback when needed. Do they actually do any research? We have Douehi, Latu Fainu, Madden and Andrews - all halves! Just annoying, clueless journalism!

That would be too neat a story.
