Jamal Idris joins Wests Tigers...Official...

Pointless discussion. He would not come here.
Having said that, did Tiger Torch say he was on their radar.

Don't want him either. Lazy, slow we dont need anyone like that here. Taylor could not motivate him so save the money.

As long as he doesn't cost much, I'd take a chance with Idris. Yes, he has a reputation for laziness and a poor attitude but if the Tigers, somehow, could press the right buttons, get him to shed weight and fire up, his big body and destructive running could be very valuable. At the moment we don't have one, truly destructive ball carrier and he could change that….Give him shot, I like the thought of him taking short balls from Brooks and Moses. If he doesn't apply himself, straight down to reserves he goes.

I think we have little choice but to take a risk. One benefit of Idris is that he has also shown great form as an edge backrower, so he gives us options.

Brooks is often a no show so I would take Idris if team positon can be shuffled and shuffle Brooks out of the pack altogether. Brooks should take on farming where you milk the cows just once or twice a day and that is it. Tell Idris he goes in reserves until he gets fit and ready and only then into FG.

if he's available, i'd love to have him here

So would I. Just watching him on the couch with Sterlo.

I'll summarise:

- Was a top player in both attack and defense
- Experience playing at the highest rep levels
- Humble / team player.
- Would be a great role model and influence.
- He wants to take his game to the next level
- He is a crowd pleaser, and could be exactly the centre we need (remember what Tuqiri was for us)

Take him in a heart beat. Hope it happens

So just clarifying, in Tiger Torchs post it said he was on the radar right? Can someone confirm this please for whoever had read it!?

Also, for the people saying no - he's lazy with a poor attitude, even with that he'd still be our most damaging ball runner even though I'm confident he'll test himself.

I personally believe, he'll fire wherever he goes and confident he will work that extra 10% to get the best out of him.

It's a risk, but a risk very much worth taking.

Him and Karwhan in the 3/4 line would give us s lot of size. It's not a sure fire thing to succeed but we don't know unless we try. We know for sure that our current guys arnt the answer.

Over-valuing him significantly.

He was a very good player in attack and decent in defence. He was an awful trainer, lazy and unmotivated - would be a poor role model and influence (until he can prove otherwise - attitudes can change).

He's played as many Origins and internationals as Galloway did.

He's coming off a major knee injury, and has had a number of injuries in his career already.

He's currently a park footballer in the country, if he were to take his game to the next level he'd become a ron massey player.

I'd take him on a low level, 2nd tier contract with incentives based on performance. Probably not as much cash as other clubs who are more desperate will offer, but we are closer to the finals than clubs like Newy too.

He's not going to go for that. Some dopey club like the Dragons will throw $250K plus at him and he'll take the money.

So there was two posts? Oh ok I see thanks for the summary mate!

Saw his interview the other day…unfortunately, he obviously has unresolved personal issues that will interfere with his consistency until he works them out, if ever. Nice guy and great player when on form. Maybe our coach/personal development officer Taylor can help him out?....haha, yeah sure

What came across in the interview from my perspective is that he is now in a good head space and finally ready to commit 100% to an NRL team. He said that he had never previously reached his potential but wanted to push himself to be the best player he can be. I would be prepared on that basis to give him a go if he is NOW ready to deal with the rigours and demands of being a full time NRL player (however having said that time will tell).

I don't know if Idris and Brooks can swap positions but if can give Jamal 2/3 or 3/4 of what Brooks is getting, punt Brooks and keep the change. Idris when in good form is dynamite compared to Brooks. For farewell pressie give Luke a blow dryer and alarm clock.
