Jamal Idris joins Wests Tigers...Official...

I saw the interview on Sterlo and have to agree with Swordy. It gave a feel for his nature and I can see that, but I can't say I was entirely convinced with his "the best I can be" talk.
However that's not to say I wouldn't love him to be a tiger next year!!! Even without being the best he possibly can be he can be awesome and if the price is right he really represents nothing to lose, a LOT to gain - particularly as the tiges really need a centre imo…

If its only a 1 year deal. whats to lose? I'm all for it. He could change his career around like Leilua did and be great for us, or he could be a massive flop but in that case we can move him on after 1 year. May also mean we can move 1 of either Simona or Naiqama to the wing where they belong.

Just curious, has any other clubs made him an offer as yet or are we the only ones so far. I heard his family come from Newcastle and his mum was keen on him signing on with them. I'd assume that Newcastle would be interested in getting his signature.

Souths and Cowboys were reportedly interested, but we're in the lead…

Also Canterbury were after him as well, and they have a fairly good cap too.

Would be a great signing. If he is fit enough put him in the centres and let simona/kev fight it out for the other centre spot, might be just what they need to become first grade standard.

Even taking his attitude out of the equation, he's also been highly injury prone. Hasn't played for 2 years.

His asking price would have to be fairly small, if he has a good relationship with Pascoe that could help us, but no doubt the Dogs, Knights, Souths, Dragons, maybe even Manly will all come sniffing. He's going to have lots of contract offers to mull over.

Wouldn't go racing out of the line like Kev. He is not quick enough to do that.

so true…and his frame plugs a fair bit of the line, lets face you would have to put two steps on him at least to get round him!!!

I wish Idris well. I dont think Taylor has the ability week in week out to motivate the guy. I think that was evident against Canberra where we were as weak as water. They had so much to play for and zip the byck stops somewhere and that is with the coach.

We have buckleys then. When was the last time that we actually snared a player that other teams were after? Especially top teams like the Cowboys & Bulldogs!

That's the one and probably only. It's been a few years then and it didn't work out so well for us.

Strange it hasn't been mentioned , but the club I heard were the keenest was the Warriors

If it is an incentive based contract with a 2nd year in our favour we'd be mad not to go there

Too many plusses to be ignored if it came off
