Jamal Idris will return to the NRL next year on a one-season deal with Wests Tigers, according to reports.

Channel Nine reported on Tuesday, Idris will join coach Jason Taylor's Tigers in 2017.

Idris, 26, took a break from rugby league at the end of the 2014 season due to personal reasons.

He has played 131 NRL games with Canterbury, Gold Coast and Penrith since debuting for the Bulldogs in 2008.

He represented NSW once in 2010 and Australia once in 2011.

A hard off season and some trial games will give us some idea as to where Idris is at.

If we didn't pay overs then I think it's worth it. Worst case scenario it puts some players on notice.
 
Cant hurt big body in the centres, can be a real weapon on his day. I doubt we've paid overs but you never know with us, he could be the x factor we have been looking for.

Why, he is a low cost gamble, one we need to take, as centre is a week point, Sterlo interviewed him a couple of weeks back and he looked fit. Said he was 110kg, 10kg lighter than when he left Penrith, say's he now realises he may not get another shot at NRL, and if he did he would be ready to go.
I see no down side to this, he is big, reasonably fast and plays a position we need covering, I think we will all be applauding this decision come round 3 or 4 next year, and there will be calls to sign him up before the poachers come knocking.

If true ? Welcome to the Wests Tigers Jamal .

I'm sure it would be a very incentive based Contract which would make Jamal push himself in 2017 so an extended Contract could be achieved for 2018 and beyond for him.
His not a risky signing and if he finds the hunger he once had ? Watch out…..we will be winners with this Lifeline opportunity.
