**Bulldogs shore up NRL list with MacDougall**
**November 1, 2011 - 9:57AM**
Canterbury have retained Michael Lett for the 2012 NRL season and bolstered their squad with the arrival of Luke MacDougall and **James Gavet** today, the official start of the club's pre-season training.
MacDougall, the younger brother of Adam and Ben, returns to rugby league after sitting out the 2011 season despite his decision to cut short a stint with English rugby union club Saracens in March.
MacDougall started his career with Cronulla in 2002 and has also had stints at South Sydney, St George-Illawarra, Newcastle and Melbourne.
Lett started in just three NRL matches for the Bulldogs in 2011 but was retained on a one-year deal after finishing the NSW Cup season with a premiership. "It's great to have Letty, Luke and James on deck ahead of pre-season," Bulldogs coach Jim Dymock said. "Letty has got a heap of pace and he can certainly sniff out a try, blokes like him are hard to find.
"We're a bit light on in the outside backs so having him and Luke on board will be important for us. "Luke's a quality player with 70 NRL matches under his belt, and like Letty he's a proven finisher."
**Gavet, uncapped at NRL level, has signed a two-year deal with the Bulldogs after three years with the Warriors.**
He was named prop of the year in the NSW Cup after a strong season with the Warriors' feeder team the Auckland Vulcans.
"James on the other hand is a big unit in the middle of the field and he's got a great offload on him," Dymock said.
"We got plenty of opportunities to look at him first hand during the NSW Cup season and he'll be a valuable addition to the squad."
