James Gavet

Still trying to find any info on James, here is some posts in reply to his debut.

Bit of talk on the Kennel he has and could possibly play centre. Geez nothing but big wraps for him after his debut. That said they probably reckon over there that Kris Keating should have the NSW halback job.

5 runs for 49 meters, 12 tackles in a total of 12 mins.

Dogs have lots of youth in the pack, Josh Jackson, Martin Taupau, Dale Finucane

I don't think this was the reason they let Gavat go. My understanding is that it was primarily due to his off-field behaviour.

Hahaha… Have to laugh. I rang 2ky this morning and asked them if they could get in contact with the Tigers and ask them if they had signed James. I recieved a phone call back about an hour later saying the club had been in contact with the station and "they had nothing to report at this stage".

I guess things can change quickly!!!

I reckon Moors will be playing plenty of games for Easts Tigers next year in the Queensland Cup!

The blokes got some self respect Watto ,if they try and send him to Cooparoo he should instantly ask for a release and come back home

Always turned up to training late and had injured his wrist on many occasions because of fights.

Injured wrists for fighting just what the doctor ordered someone at last with mongrel and ready to bash someone ….I love the change in culture!!!

He will bring the mongrel!

A(nother) union-convert and has played most of his league at prop. However this year he played mostly second row and terrorised in that position (he's of similar size to Blair so not that big but will surprise most with how hard he hits the line); equally effective as well at prop and regularly bent defensive lines.

Pity we won't see him and Moors playing alongside one another - a frightening thought tbh!

This.

Back to the roots of the magpies and tigers - rough nuts. Maybe with a few more around him Blair will rediscover some agro

Moors will never be a regular first grade player. He has not got IT. Well and truly overrated by some people.

I really hope Im wrong Magpiecol, but…Moors has enormous potential that was never close to being fulfilled under Sheens,& I actually reckon that with Bellyaches tutelage(& thats the best there is) he'll play rep footy for NZ in 2013
i have no idea why we let him go...one of the few blokes with a bit of size in a forward pack that gets dominated most weeks...?

Maybe he just needs some boxing training to learn how to punch.

Rumours get twisted. He, like many other young up and comers, get challenged in public (who can forget what happened to Benji!). James is uncompromising and doesn't take any rubbish and so he does tend to not shy away when Joe-public thinks they make a name for themselves.

Here's the thing - he was in NZ for the offseason (post-GF) and went out with some mates. A group approached them and a fight ensued. James got caught up in the crossfire so to speak and injured a bone in his hand. Doggies have a zero tolerance to this and on the back of the James Graham / Slater incident in the GF AND the Mad Monday saga James was released.

Here's something not many know either. When he was at the Warriors in 2011, midseason, Sheens was pushing for his services then. He turned it down along with Kearney's thinking his future was at the Warriors; unbeknownst to him at the time Brian 'Bluey' McLennan would come in to replace Ivan Cleary and he basically pulled the rug from under him late that year - Oct/Nov - which is why the Dogs ultimately picked him up when most clubs had their recruitment plans sorted.

He started rugby union in the centres and ended up as a bruising number 8\. He swapped to league in his first year out of school. Athletically he's very gifted and powerful and plays other sports at high levels (basketball/volleyball & boasts a 170kg bench). Tigers trainers will be seeing all of these developments over the next week leading up to Christmas.

He's really built to be a rangy second-rower with footwork and ball skills, but so effective is his ball running that coaches opt for his impact in the middle rather than on the fringes. I know it's been an oft used comparison but some say he's like a cross between Pritchard and, dare I say it, SBW. We'll see but either way have no fear he will perform.

Phantomlock, judging by your posts on here so far, it's safe to assume that you personally know James based on the info you have provided us so far…I'd like to ask what are James' thoughts on joining the Tigers, how is he fitting in so far, and what position does he hope to play in next season?
