Considering the Lote thread was well over 100 pages I think the 4 dedicated to this guy is not over the top - tried or untried.

Lote had a mass of experience, gavet is a rookie.
Do you think the expectations people will have on him due to all the talk in this thread, by the time season 2013 rolls around will be fair? Believe me, the expectations will just occur naturally…Ive seen it here before.

Havent we signed another young prop? I cant even think of his name.....someone from saints...no pressure on him, only from himself.

Pressure, expectations.....no one needs it...particularly young rookies

Buchanan is the prop from Saints now at the Tigers Ink. Could be handy too, but time will tell of course. Back to Gavet, look at the end of the day he's the new kid on the block and has to earn his stripes as far as I'm concerned. He's not a seasoned first grader so it's up to him to impress at training, and during the trials and obviously play to the best of his ability in whatever grade he's chosen in. If he's good enough for FG, I'm sure we'll see him at some stage provided Potter looks at all things equally and his form deserves it.

People were calling for another prop to be signed and this young bloke is who we got, so let's support him.

I really don't believe tht players religiously read and follow this forum. Is not the forum only meant to be a discussion between fans.

I hope he doesnt read the forums, and i hope he finds no excess pressure…I hope Im wrong on all Ive said, but Ive seen huge expectations on here on players come to nothing, there is probably no direct link to their failing and the massive hype up they recieved here, but who knows???
You tell me what young person these days dont access the net
It would be hard not to have a looksee and see what people are saying about you

I don't think that at all Ink, nor have I inferred otherwise. The last line of my comment is a general comment intended for the entire forum.

Hope this isn't John Grant v2.0

The forum lives and breathes on certain types of player:

- The scapegoat (e.g. Fitzy, Tim Moltzen etc)
- The potential world beater stuck in reggies (e.g. John Grant)

There is clearly an opening for that second slot!!

Its the off season Ink. Personally I get very excited about unknown prospects in the NRL, such as Gavet and Grant. Even the addition of seasoned NRL players like Pettybourne and Anasta to see what they'll bring to the club.

Last year it was definitely Grant, but more-so Tedesco.

In the case of Gavet he is unknown to me, so its exciting considering some of the talk and opinions on him. Excited and hopeful, but by no means expecting him to be the next big thing.

Got interviewed couple of days ago.

PL

Im convinced that you either know her personally or you're an ossessed James Gavet stalker.

I'm sorry what's the problem?

WT media interviewed him this week.

If fans prefer I DON'T feed updates on WTF I won't - just say the word.

PL
(ps..who's "her" by the way? we're talking about Gavet)

Please just ignore some of the douchebags PL, the overwhelming majority appreciate the inside info.

Not a problem mate - fans are entitled to their views so it's all good.

James will do well enough - untried and untested and fair enough for WT fans to be tentative about his arrival. He Thompson and Pettybourne will bring some much needed starch and will complement a pack that may surprise next year - WE HOPE!

Bring on 2013!!!

PL

james will bring with him fear , other players wanting a starting spot will now also have to do that bit extra to lesson his chances of missing a spot

I do think that we needed another prop, and I'm happy that we took a risk on a bloke like gavet as opposed to some journeyman like cashmere again…which seemed to be sheens go.

He may play the year in nsw cup, he may end up being a star who knows.

Good pickup from all accounts, have alot of good looking forwards coming through, but the question is, will they make the step up. It must be like going from 1st grade to origin for these guys coming through. i hope we have setups in place to bring them through, not like poor Groat who copped it last year. Hopefully this guy sticks around and we don't get him all ready for another club to cherry pick him.

Go Wests Tigers 2013 is a great year!

Here it is…some insight (funny guy)

http://www.weststigers.com.au/news-display/James-Gavet--One-on-One/67111

PL

Im really glad we didnt buy yet another aging journeyman(eg Cashmere),but was hoping we recruited someone who will bring some real presence to the ruck area.
The interview suggested
1)gavet is not overtly a big unit who will dominate at prop.Maybe it was the camera angle, but …105kgs...?
2)he was attracted by "WT style of play which suits his running game"..is that wot we really need.Seems more of the same backrower which we have in spades..
3)has he really got gray hair...?
Not sure hes gonna solve potential front row shortcomings, but see wot hes got to offer
