‘I didn’t learn a thing’: Maloney slams Flanagan’s coaching in 2016 NRL premiership
James Maloney and Shane Flanagan won a breakthrough title together with Cronulla. The retired No.6 says he was coaching the team.
I don't have access to the article. But James Maloney basically reckons Flanagan taught him nothing in 2016.
Which is interesting. Flano hired 3 older heads and he said he wanted people "to lead the training"
Cook, Gutho and Klemmer.*
We see that Ivan clearly passed a lot of skills to Nathan, Steve Mortimer taught Daniel a thing or two... even if he dinnit make it long term.
But Kyle F is a fringe grade half bordering on first grade effort.
As a club we have shirked Flanno, I really wondered why as I thought he could be someone who could deliver something better then the options we had (even as an assistant). Yet at the Bulldogs they saw him whiteant the coaches there and the Dragons are doing "okaye"...
Super surprised that Maloney would speak out like that. It would limit his opportunities in the NRL coaching staff for sure (as 5 coaches are managed by the same guy who manages Galvin).
*This may be genious or lazyness. There is too much on a head coach and I totally get Benji not leading the Prop training for the tigers or Payten/Ryles not leading the halves training. I totally respect though Craig F telling anyone he would Wressle them on the mat any day any time.
