James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

For me the biggest question that hasn't really been answered by anyone directly is what would've kept each player here?

What is it exactly that they want?

"To know the direction the club is going and to compete for premierships" is the biggest point they've made. The club has done everything to move forward and show the direction we're heading including bringing in a brilliant coach and getting the house in order. If the board/coach/CEO/receptionist or work experience kid is really causing so many headaches like these guys lead everyone to believe, would someone come out with some hard evidence or stick your thumb in it. I honestly believe that Pascoe and Cleary will lead us into success for the long term either way.

If they didn't want to be here all they had to say was "we didn't like the plan given to us by the club in regards to the direction we're heading and have made the decision to sign elsewhere as we believe it's in our best interests." Fair enough, decision made, their contracts up and their entitled to change clubs, everyone moves on. Why does the Tigers contract dramas seem to always play out like an episode of Days Of Our Lives in comparison to other clubs? That's what I'd love to know.

Even today they're still pushing the wagon of "we don't know, we still haven't made our mind up!" and giving the media more speculation to hammer the club with for a few more weeks instead of celebrating a win. Bunch of pelicans.

If they want premierships, go out there and earn one like everyone else. Do they not realise that forcing the club into making huge offers to individuals causes the club to be unable to spread the money across the squad to complement the team as a whole?

They're supposed to be the ones out there winning games and leading the team to premierships to begin with. Sticking solid and building that dynasty like Slater, Smith and Cronk did at Melbourne, the way Johnson is trying to do for NZ, etc. Instead they took the easy way out and want the club to suffer by putting it back on the club….WELL BOYS WHAT DID THE CLUB DO THAT WAS SO BAD??? Offer the most money compared to other clubs? Support you through your entire junior careers (letting others go to show faith in you)? Support you through injuries and poor form? Poor snookums, maybe we should've tucked you into bed as well?

Tedesco is the only real game-breaker. The 4 collectively haven't been able to deliver so are making the club out as the scapegoat whether it be about the board, coaches, Robbie Farah, club direction. Get on with it and just win some games and play like you're paid.

Totally agree

The Bulldogs were only in the game because of that disgraceful attempt at tackle by Tedesco on that winger who by no means is fast. Slater, Boyd and most competent NRL fullbacks would have made that tackle which would have secured the win without the need for another try. His game yesterday was not good.

Poor form from both of them to give supporters false hope by saying they are still undecided when everyone with half a brain knows they won't be here. Who are they trying to fool?

And then again as moses did, they will blame the club when they leave.

I wonder if Ivan Cleary would want Tedesco to stay…

I wonder as well….. Just cuz the contract is currently off the table, doesn't mean it can be tabled again, especially if IC is working on JT behind the scenes......

I think the Tigers bluff move was to pull the offers and the Isaac Moses move was to call their bluff by not responding (I'm also sure the Tigers knew this would happen - with a view that atleast it would kill some of the speculation off).

Now it's a matter of seeing what the hands are.

I'm leaning (Probably more in hope) towards Teddy genuinely being undecided. I just cant see the logic in digging a bigger hole for himself by saying his undecided if he had already signed elsewhere. If that had been the case you would have thought a 'No comment ' would be in order.

This doesn't mean he'll stay and at the same time the speculation will continue to simmer.

I wouldn't read too much into those interviews, it's just two players trying to save face. They've received a lot of flack and now they're just trying to shift the blame away from them and their manager. If they really havnt agreed to anything then maybe someone should tell the Roosters and Bulldogs, because they've certainly been acting like its a done deal. The Bulldogs came out and denied a contract had been signed Foran and even rang the Warriors to re-assure them. No such thing for Woods. As for the Roosters, their sponsors and former players have had loose lips all week. Look at this interview for what it is, PR.

Yep. It also shows how low these players are. It's all a game to them and they are showing no respect to the club or it's fans.

It wasn't about the money which makes this worse, he basically has said our club sucks, and the roosters will only give him a chance to be the best. so why should he still be playing first grade?? should piss off now to the roosters so he can start 'being the best' now

We haven't made a decision on my future yet. I think the media sort of made it for me without us confirming that.

That pretty much confirms the confirmation, what he means is 'I never got to confirm it you guys did that for me first before it was official'

Hate to get sucked in, but with Go criticising the supporters for booing and Cleary giving Woods a break from the presser, plus standing by him with the captaincy, is there still talk behind closed doors? Why would they care about Woods so much if he was already gone?

The dogs probably told him to go back after missing out on Teddy and Reynolds finding form

Add this to the media release this morning regarding crowd behaviour says the negotiations are unofficially still on.

They would be thinking that until it's officially announced they're going elsewhere they are still a chance.

Why are keeping Brooks in this 4? - He is not making the club out to be a scapegoat.

Then why wouldn't Woods just come out and say it.. 'going to stay with tigers just getting my contract worked out'

Manager won't let him? We saw how quickly Noffa retracted his comments after saying the deal with us was almost done. Sometimes i wonder who works for who when it comes to players and their managers.

Of course it was scripted, they knew what was coming with questions, and why wouldn't the manager let them say they signed?? what does the manager get out of that? he doesn't lose money at all from it, there is no difference between announcing it now or later. It obviously got out there somewhere
