James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

NRL is not an even playing field as we all can appreciate.

Easts, Brisbane, Manly and Canterbury appear to have endless money and third party schemes in place.

I wouldn't be surprised if the sudden and loud Roosters chat wasn't leaked by I Moses to try and pry a few extra $$ (or years) for his client.

But we've been told its about playing finals footy, not cash.

so over the BS that goes on and in around the NRL.

listening to that tool ennis last night saying teddy should go to another team to play finals footy (doggiesbro, eh mick, wink wink) and then the 'little violin' courting teddy to the roorters last night as well really annoyed the s... out of me.

big mal hit the nail on the head, show a bit of loyalty (hoping this concept is not completely dead and buried) and urged teddy to just re-sign to the tigers.
just do it teddy !

hurts to say after being a long time member but soooo glad i didnt renew my membership this year.

Hang on a sec you just said Tedesco should show loyalty, but you congratulated yourself for not renewing your membership. Hypocritical don't you think?

I don't think he's being hypocritical Jirsky. Use your stats knowledge to compare Roosters membership numbers compared to Wests Tigers membership numbers. If as think you will find they are similar work out come the Roosters TPA's dwarf the Tigers' TPA's. The reality is that Roosters do not rely on their membership numbers for the extra funding to secure top players it comes from Eastern suburbs big business. While you are at it compare the number of Roosters juniors to Wests Tigers juniors and you will that Wests Tigers junior development costs dwarfs that of Roosters.

Not in the slightest. Dont see where the self congrats are either !
I am not being paid by any footall club and why should i waste my hard earned to financially support an NRL team and its system
I was over all the BS at the tigers long ago from inept coaching, player recruitment etc etc

Not the NRLs fault that those clubs have better financial networks to assist them. It up to other clubs to get to their level.

SG I know what your saying, its up to us to get to their level rather than them been forced down to our level, but its not that easy. A lot factors come into play, like your geographical location and the economical environment your market is in. For sure we need to do a lot better, but last year we had the best Sydney crowds, this year our memberships have hit a record high and we are still light years behind the big clubs. We need a winning football team and everything else will flourish

Would hate to lose Woods Tedesco and Nofaluma but the Gold Coast has shown it is possible to field a competitive team without developing juniors by selectively buying players who are kept out of first grade or can't get a start at other clubs. Plenty of money available next year to assemble a decent team with astute buying!

Self congrats = "soooo glad I didnt renew my membership".

I'll just repeat your argument to you - why should you waste your hard-earned to support a team and it's system, due to the BS, inept coaching etc? Fair enough, you don't have to.

But why must Tedesco be loyal to the same team and system, due to the BS, inept coaching etc?

Cut out the disguised swearing please. Warnings will be issued if it continues.

You've totally lost me there, sorry.

We can't prove Roosters TPA, so that's not something you can pin down. Then there are the actual breakdowns for junior development, I am fairly certain that Wests Tigers don't pay much for junior development at all, that falls to Western Suburbs and Balmain JRLFCs. And it's not entirely Roosters' fault, the original club boundaries were drawn up a long time ago, populations have shifted massively and some clubs just have huge population boundaries to draw from.

But beyond all that, sorry not at all sure how this has anything to do with blackpearl being a member or not - I'm interested to discuss further if you can clarify.

Teddy should sign soon. Other teams are starting to work him out on field. As such he's at his peak and will only come off the boil from here on.

Would you say that if he were staying…..

Not sure. Just seems players are standing off him longer lately. He's not getting as far as often. Don't think he can rely on strength like some FBs. He might be able to adjust but maybe not. I don't want him to go. Whatever I might think I'm seeing he's still the best player on the team, and probably a leader.

Teams are figuring it out because we just throw the ball at him and expect him to do something. He is literally our only weapon at the moment.

You're not wrong there

Why Sydney Roosters may have the edge in signing Wests Tigers' superstar James Tedesco

Adrian Proszenko - SMH
\
\
When the Roosters talk turkey with James Tedesco, they will have two things in their favour: the Tigers fullback grew up a Roosters fan and the club has previously worked with "football whisperer" Joe Wehbe.

It is increasingly likely Tedesco will be the latest member of the Tigers' so-called "big four" to walk out on the joint-venture outfit after receiving interest from Canterbury and the tricolours. The Bulldogs are also keen on Aaron Woods, raising the prospect of Luke Brooks being the only member of the quartet to stay put after Mitchell Moses signed with Parramatta during the week.

While he grew up in Magpies territory, Tedesco supported the Roosters in his teens.

"I was a Roosters fan because our Camden jerseys were red, white and blue, exactly the same strip as the Roosters," Tedesco told this column last year.
\
\
"I always went for them as a young kid and was a pretty passionate supporter. My favourite player was Brad Fittler, and I liked Craig Wing."

The Roosters very nearly snared Tedesco in his teens. Tedesco wasn't considered among the best 40 players of his age group in the Campbelltown region. Fearing he would be overlooked for Wests, he made the commute from Menangle to the eastern suburbs to try out for the Roosters' Harold Matthews side. The Roosters liked what they saw, but Wests belatedly came to the party and gave him a start.

The clubs courting Tedesco and Woods would have noticed how close the pair are to Wehbe. The Tigers tried to curry their favour by seeking to give Wehbe and massage therapist Anthony Carbone staff jobs. However, when that fell over it all but ended the chances of the big four remaining together.

Perhaps Woods and Tedesco's suitors may see the benefit of getting Wehbe on board as a sweetener.

Roosters chairman Nick Politis is refusing to deal with Tedesco's manager, Isaac Moses, after another of his clients, Mitchell Moses, reneged on a deal to head to Bondi Junction. Anthony Minichiello has been acting as an intermediary between the parties in a bid to get the deal done.

Tedesco revealed Minichiello – whom he knows from their time together with the Azzurri – had previously tried to bring him to the Roosters.

"I'm close to him; he was trying to get me over there," Tedesco said last year. "He wanted me to take his spot when he retired. It wasn't to be.

"He wanted to put in a good word."

Minichiello is now doing so again.

What a load of crap Adrian…

He is quoting Tedesco for starters.

There is only two things I take heart from in reading this. Nick is against dealing with Issac as a player manager, which will make the deal tough and Roosters usually don't pay full freight for a player. They have lately picked up the bad boys, the over 25 not under 25\. They would find room for Woods, but they won't find 900k room! Maybe 450\. So Tedesco will have to go alone and I suspect go under his WT offer (except Roosters will bring the corporate sponsors to raise the deal higher).

If it is truly Tedesco and Mini driving this then something could happen. But if Nick is against it he will be against it forever. Probably manager fluff to push Teddy's price up, but there are too many quotes to knock the article back.

I can tell you now that players these days aren't as concerned with TPA's as they aren't guaranteed money what they want is club money that's what holds more weight these days. No player with half a brain would accept a deal that has more TPA money than club contract money.

Perhaps Tedesco should remember his current employer is the WTs, not the Roosters, and while employed by WTs owes his allegiance to our club and many thousands of supporters especially those from the Campbelltown Macarthur District.

Tedesco told this column last year.

Tedesco said last year.

These are the most important "quotes" from this article for mine. Rehashing old news. Is Isaac getting desperate?

Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch the game last night but it looked as though our boys (including Teddy) really put in. Hoping this is a sign that they're buying into Cleary's message and want to stay Tigers.

Depends which club. Roosters, Bulldogs and Broncos TPAs are virtually guaranteed. Players know if their cap hit is lower the surrounding talent is better.
