James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

Tedesco set to make a decision soon. Has deleted twitter and says the processs has taken its toll on him ( and us). Fingers crossed.

Not a good thing , he may have learnt from last time when he ended up shutting down all of his social media because of the abuse

I hope he stays. Did people really abuse him on social media last time ?

NRL 2017: Wests Tigers James Tedesco justifies rivals interest with star performance

JAMES Tedesco deleted Twitter off his phone last week, but still made it hard to forget him after an irresistible performance in the Wests Tigers’ 26-22 loss to Parramatta.

Tedesco admitted on Monday he had been feeling the heat over his protracted contract negotiations, which has seen him attract interest from Canterbury and the Roosters.

The fullback’s contract situation has dominated the headlines along with that of Mitchell Moses and captain Aaron Woods this season, but he says he won’t be rushed into a call.

After a quiet month since the Tigers’ opening-round win over South Sydney, he admitted the speculation had impacted on his football — before he went cold turkey on social media.

“I think it was getting in my head too much,” he said.

“You read too much, it gets a bit draining for yourself mentally.

“When we read too much it plays on our mind too much and distracts us from playing footy.”

The latest contract drama isn’t the first time Tedesco has been the centre of transfer attention, having previously signed with Canberra in 2014 before backflipping to stay at the Tigers.

He said he expected to make a call in the next few weeks this time around, but won’t be hurried.

“I don’t want to rush into a decision and make the wrong one,” he said.

“I’ve had contract dramas before so I want to make it right before I rush into anything just to get it over with.

“Hopefully (I’ll decide) in the coming weeks. I can’t put a deadline on it.”

It didn’t hurt his football on Monday though — with the 24-year-old turning in his best performance of the season.

He set up two tries out of dummy-half and busted through 10 tackles — including one linebreak which should have won his team the match.

The play broke down later in the set when the Eels intercepted a Mitchell Moses pass to run downfield and score, but Tedesco’s 240 metres was another reminder of why he is the Tigers’ chief priority.

“When I’m involved in the ball and work off quick play-the-balls that’s when we play our best footy,” he said.

“We’re too structured in attack so I’ve just got to roam around and do my best.

Tedesco is likely to be centre of attention in the lead up to the Tigers’ clash with Canterbury next Sunday — a club he admitted earlier this month he was “tempted” to join because of their superior off-field stability.

But he said on Monday he believed the Tigers had improved in that area already after the arrival of new coach Ivan Cleary.

“Ivan has come in and just given us a game plan,” he said.

“You can see the improvement we’ve had in the past few weeks and that’s positive for me, positive for the team that we’re going in a positive direction.

“It’s good to have that. We haven’t had that before.”

In the same interview he said,

"Ivan has come in and just given us a game plan," he said.
"You can see the improvement we've had in the past few weeks and that's positive for me, positive for the team that we're going in a positive direction.
"It's good to have that. We haven't had that before."

Hopefully this is a positive for us as well,

Some positivity from the man himself here…

A part of me cant help but think we're revisiting Chris Lawrence's last contract negotiations. He had just played for Australia and was in career best form. We were all on a knife's edge waiting to see what he will do. When he re-signed a massive contract with us we were all ecstatic. A year later he injured his hip and he has never been the same since. I could be wrong but it's hard not feeling the same with Teddy.

It was actually the game after he re-signed.

I couldnt remember exactly when it happened but I cant help but have that same feeling with Teddy.

And he played for Australia AFTER he injured his hip. :deadhorse:

Made his test debut in 2010 and injured his hip in 2011\. :deadhorse:

Call me naive but I'm starting to think how this team goes under Cleary for the next two weeks will factor in to the decision. I don't believe they have made their minds up yet. The drama Jack Bird is copping will be minor compared to what will happen if these two leave.

I don't mind founded rumours but this Troll is pushing the envelope. I believe Woods is staying irrespective as I don't see anyone paying him the dollars we are reported to and whether this influences Teddy is another question.

You might be right Naive, but I tend to think they are probably in their cooling off period whether it be with us or another team. I just can't think of what other matter they need to weigh up. They now know who our coach is and surely by now they would know the contract terms being offered by all the clubs. I feel for Tedesco as I think he is genuinely at a crossroads in regards to his future **whereas I think Woods is just enjoying the limelight.**

Yes because he really looks like he's enjoying it, doesn't he? Idiot!

Yes he does, if you watch him on NRL 360 he looks like he is loving it.
And what has got up your backside lately Flip, no need to go calling people names. You trying to change your image are you mate, maybe trying to be the new Stryker, give it up, it doesn't become you "FLIP"

What happened to the old Stryker?

Yep I take a bit of positivity from that. Giving Cleary a bit of a wrap which is good. Fingers crossed.

He's had enough and tossed the towel in, gone fishing,
Lucky bugger !

How is nobody in the press covering the head-high tackle that Tedesco copped yesterday, that went unpunished? He gets ironed out every match, cheap shots galore.

So Looks like tedesco 1.1 million to the dogs and woods 900k to the dogs

Well done NRL run by pathetic armature with mid season signings in April the only idiot sport that does it

and they wonder why the fans stop going to games, who wants to watch players that are leaving your club next year it's a joke sport

I reckon. I nearly bottled my TV when that was called play on.

Believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see B&GF.

Feel for Tedesco, I mean imagine having A multi million dollar offer there for close to 10 months. These things take time and CANT be rushed. i mean there's so much to consider.

The thing that woods and Tedesco don't seem to get is while they are saying they want to see what direction the club is heading with signings etc that tigers can't really make any plays for off contract players until those 2 or atleast one of them makes up their minds.

It's just amateur hour from all involved.

Makes it hard for the players when we change coach mid stream and rumours were about that Cleary had been on the radar since early January

It's all around different Club forums that have reliable sources should be announced this week.

The NRL is just about dead for me along with State of Origin.
