@ said:I put all this stuff about them leaving down to Cleary revising Moses contract just after Cleary took the job.
$950K for Moses was crazy and Cleary revised it down, then a few days later withdrew the contract to prioritise Woods and Tedesco.
It was that day Moses asked for an immediate release and it was that day, I believe, that the other two decided they wanted out.
Before Cleary they were holding all the cards. Cleary decided that things had to change. Cleary actually implied as much with his comment that some people don't like change.
I have the utmost respect for Luke Brooks who sensibly decided that his form was way down on his asking price. Took the revised offer and looks far more relaxed than I've seen him.
@ said:From now on the Roosters will be the beneficiaries of all those freakish plays that Teddy pulls off. You know that try he scored against the Cowboys last year at Leichhardt or that incredible try he scored against the Bunnies in round 1? How about the match winner he scored against the Warriors in round 1 last year?
All of that talent, all of that skill, all of that speed, all of that freakish rugby league player belongs to the Roosters now. We are going to have to play against him next year, he's almost certain to extend their winning streak over us and bag himself a couple of solo tries as well. The Tigers could always rely on Teddy to do something insane and turn the tide of a game single-handedly, that will never happen again.
Talents like James Tedesco come about once every decade. The Tigers will be successful again, that might even be next year. But, James 'Teddy' Tedesco won't be there when it happens. Teddy the Tiger is no longer applicable. He's a local junior, he came through the grades at the Tigers. He suffered multiple injuries to start his career but, he always came back better than before. But now, he's no longer in our team.
One of the reasons this is really heartbreaking is that Tedesco brought people to the games, he was everyone's favourite player. He always stated how much he loved the Tigers and how much this club meant to him, which leads to the question of where that passion was when his club needed him most.
Now every time a Roosters game is on TV, you will hear these words "Starting at fullback for the Roosters tonight, superstar James Tedesco".

Don't worry mate I had an old cotton Balmain jersey and had iron on letters "Beetson" when I was a kid. The next year he went to Eastern Suburbs.
@ said:not a good look for WT retention policy, except Nofoaluma and Brooks we probably lost 3 of our 'big 4' , and now Seumanufagai, arguably our best players :bash
We managed to hold Suli, but have lost Papenhuyzen.
Strange, they are not interested in our 'stars' like Lawrence, Lovett, Milone, Rankin, Naiqama etc.,

All those moments you mention and no mention of finals. I'm under no illusions, he's the best fullback in the game, but let's look at a stat we can take comfort in. No side has ever made the finals with James Tedesco. As good as he is, he's never carried us into September, whoever replaces him won't be as good, that's a given. But he doesn't need to be as long as we are putting money to good use in other areas, which so far we are.
I just feel like we needed to put the right players around him and we would've been right in finals contention. It isn't just about him being the best, everyone loved James Tedesco. **He's one of those players that everyone expected to remain loyal and stick by his junior club no matter the circumstances, like Paul Gallen.** The worst part is we'll have to play against him next year.

I didn't. He almost jumped ship once before, in his relatively short time with us, so I tended to think that this day would come around again, as his status in the game continued to rise.
Don't worry Tacky, hopefully we will build a great team, rather than having just one or two great players in an average team. What's that saying - a champion team will always beat a team of champions (which is what the Roosters are always trying to buy). Hope they have an epic FAIL! :smiling_imp:
