SG…Iam not sure if I am trying to find a positive in Teddy's departure, but I was a thinking the same thing a few weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, he will always be a handy no1,but a million dollar no1 I am not sure. His biggest weapon was always speed, now as that seems to have dropped a tad, to me he seems to have come back to the field.
It will be interesting to see if he really kicks on to be another Billy the Kid, or just ends up a solid no1
Does anyone else think he may have gotten a little gun shy?
I just picture him now going from sideline to sideline looking for holes.
Certainly doesn't run it back line Darius does
Well said Ink
I think he's down on form, no reason to suggest he can't get it back.
My one concern long-term for Tedesco is whether or not teams are figuring him out. He's a tackle buster for sure but it's more broken-play tackles, sniffing around at a staggered line, he doesn't bust charge through the line like an Inglis does. He's hard to get a grab on but he's not pure power.
Perhaps it's the lack of threat from the rest of the Tigers backline, but teams watch Tedesco very closely and don't give him space. Tedesco does not have the pass selection of Darius Boyd, though he is more dangerous with the ball in his hand, a fair number of passes go AWOL. So teams watch Tedesco and swarm him when he gets the footy, he certainly breaks many of those tackles but they get him in the end.
That's not to say things won't change when he joins the Roosters, Keary is very quick and a sweeping Tedesco could be lethal. But definitely his kick returns are down and his late-game involvement has not been match-turning. I think he was in better form the opening rounds of last year and 2015.
I hope his form goes to hell next year, of course. Would be great to see.
