It's sad that after some fairly significant indiscretions by China in the past I have suspicions when they seem to come out of the clouds to win a race and break a world record by a huge amount. Hopefully they're all clean and it was just a remarkable performance.

Well done to our girls, breaking the old world record is no mean feat.

I watched them coming out, they all looked about 200 cm tall. In that outfit they looked like the aliens from "I Am Number Four". If legal, it was a great swim by them. I was surprised that we opened with Titmus and McKeon. I thought they'd bookend them.

It isn't the order I would have liked to see them in, Titmus should have taken the final leg

Me too. I wonder if they wanted to keep her away from Ledecky. I don't know why they would but who knows. I'm guessing the strategy was to blow them away after 400m but that didn't work. I was amazed at how even the Chinese swimmers swam their race. They only had one swimmer in the 200m final and she came fourth.

Interesting Titmus didn't win the first split - beaten by the Chinese lead. Ariarne could be a bit tired but the fact they broke the old world record suggests they still went pretty quick.

It does make you wonder where these swimmers were during the individual 200m free.
