OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Can’t believe the lack of comment on what I thought was a very compelling game. Crowd seemed to come in and out of it as I don’t think today’s spectators like a low scoring struggle between 2 top teams.
Anyway, congrats Penrith, whichever way you look at it they are an amazing organisation. And Ivan becomes the current GOAT coach, something some of our bitter and twisted supporters will find hard to stomach.
I repeat what I’ve said many times before. It was an absolute tragedy we didn’t get the chance to have him build a dynasty here. And some kudos to Pascoe for getting him here in the first place.
Our current coach would be looking after a junior team if he were at Penrith, so I think it’s going to be up to Api and Rome to develop the team next year, and beyond.
I do agree that it would’ve been good if he had stayed a little longer, however he is definitely not the only reason that Penrith have got there. He’s a great coach.
Go online and look at the Panthers story.(you can watch it on YouTube) Club has invested incredibly heavily in its juniors and their System starts from the 14 year olds onwards it’s an amazing 3 part series that lets you know how they rebuilt the Club(I can only look in awe of the system they have created, and a large part of that System is non-negotiable (and they rarely veir from that path) and Ivan is a big part of it,but not the only part.

I'm sure Luai is well aware of the immense challenge in front of him. And I'm sure he'll embrace it! That's what champions do. I'm looking forward to watching what happens.

Apparently part of the reason he didn't go to the dogs is he wanted to stand alone be his own man and carve out his own legacy.
With the dogs having Kikau, Critta, Burton and Ciraldo the insinuation could be the Panthers lite version.
Now he has to climb Everest with no Sherpa, if he's successful thats some legacy already done it all he's up for it. Although im sure in this very moment he's sad that his time came to an end he turns the page of a new book.

The only part of Luai’s game that may be a disadvantage as a captain is he is a bit of a hot head at times on the field. Can’t seem to stop himself from getting into scraps and being a tough guy, pushing and shoving and mouthing off. As Captain that might be detrimental.

In the past maybe...I havent seen that in him for a while, though with us his calmness and demeanour will be tested

I think that most on here will be surprised at how well our youth with adapt to Luai being here..young guys feed off the brilliance and skill of a top NRL player and want to be around him and try and impress him...
They will also learn discipline very quickly because they won't want to be responsible for stupid penalties or costly errors that cost games...
While we are at it,I think API will also step up,he over played his hand many times this year because of carrying this squad...

I think Luai needs to impact the careers of some of our older heads if he’s to help turn it around. Will we see a revival in the games of Klemmer, Twal, Bird, Bateman, Naden?? The kids will be fine, they mostly were this year in trying circumstances.

Thinking Api, Bateman and especially Galvin will relish him being on the teamsheet.

It will be a mistake if we push him to overplay his hand on the field.......he only needs to be be what he wants to be. If he wants to draw attention to himself in the media........all the better, he can handle it and will take the pressure of the team.

Api went over the top this year..........it's a measure of his integrity and commitment, but everyone has their limits and he found his. Luai will help him breathe.

And Galvin may think he went back to reggies next year with Luai on the park. I mean let's face it he was catapulted as the chief playmaker in a wooden spoon side this year and relished it.

He will wonder where all the extra options come from next year just by Luai being on the paddock.

I got a feeling Bula will be one to benefit
