OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

I started this thread on Jerome but after watching the game against the Titans on Sunday I take back anything negative that I said about him. He was absolutely great and what we all expected from him - he ran the ball at every opportunity, led the side around the park and his grubber kicks into the Titans in goal area were on point and his tackling was first class. Maybe we are now seeing what the Board saw in offering him such a huge deal. If he continues to play like this the Tigs will become a force to be reckoned with. Taylyn too was outstanding!! C'mon Tigs a bit of confidence and forward structure can overcome the Panthers. Teruva was great and led the offence from the back and Doueihi terrific. What a kick to win us the game!!

He's been good for us but 1.2 million worth of good, certainly not.

But we don't have much of a choice, hopefully he can earn some of his coin off the filed and bring some of his Samoan mates to the Tigers.

I just saw the replay of him taking out Campbell after a kick in the first half... What is he trying to do? Is he trying to find out the grey area in the rules or something and push the boundaries? Because it was so damn obvious he ran him off the ball... I'm dumbfounded..

Reserve judgement till he gets another off season with Latu at 7 and if the club goes for it Doueihi at 13, his attack looks a little mindless this season running into dead ends with any support not knowing what he's doing.

Put that down to the team being so unsettled all season but one thing you can't fault is left side wide defense, he does a ton of good work out there.

Not the first time either. I think he may have been binned before for doing this.

He needs to cut this rubbish out of his game.

There is a lot to like about Laui but he is no way in blazing hell a $800+ plus player. His end product at times is not what u expect from a international player who has played state of origin regularly, his kicking is poor and inconsistent.

We are very lucky to have Jerome in our club.

No one can hold their head up high when you scrape past the worst team in the comp off the back of lucky bounces and referreeing calls going your way. We also scored fewer tries than our opposition and only won because of dumb penalties they gave away.

Luai was not good. At all. Average at best. Like the rest of his season so far.

If it wasn't for Dylan Brown, he'd be pretty clearly the most overpaid player in the game.

Ok I can accept he's helped us recruit players but with that said, I don't think we're paying unders for any of these guys either.

Luai will fire like any half he needs players. If we can get May, Fainu, Makasini outside Luai they will create havoc. Latu Fainu, KPP, Toa, Turuva will also trouble teams on the right.

Then why pay him 1.2m?

If a half only needs good players around them, then just pay the half min wage and surround them with stars?

Both our halves looked clunky yesterday. No go forward will do that (sorry Tito runs hard). When will people realise this?!

Meanwhile, Brooksy carved up Melbourne off good go-forward.

Biggest change for me is players on the inside are getting behind the ball faster as they now understand that there is a huge probability of him stepping off his left and coming back right looking for a hole.

Because that’s his value. A minimum wage half can’t use the weapons. You need players to create pressure and stress the defence. Ultimately both sides of the field so they can’t man up on Luai which has been happening. Luai is worth his price for the Tigers it’s the supporting cast that needs to improve. Had no problem carrying Penrith without Cleary.

I agree with the lack of go forward.
Pole and May pave a decent platform as does Sione Fainu. 13 is a problem for us in my view AD can play the link man but he lacks punch. We need another prop and a 13 in the team of quality. Ideally a player that can do both roles. Good luck finding one.

The players you named just need to run onto the ball harder and think quick PTB more often. Both can ball play but their first thought needs to be run aggressively. Against Roosters they had that mindset.

Even with 3 spoons, we knocked off some pretty good teams over the years. I wouldn't look too much into it. It was the error count that was disappointing and nearly cost us the game. All self inflicted as opposed to them playing well against us.
