OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Far out. I hate this club at times.
My expectations are set to be realistic with little hope but then Luai talks and I can’t help but get sucked in for a minute.

Results matter, let’s hope we start the season strong.

I usually defend articles like these when some get annoyed at them, but this time im gonna be the idiot.....this article just annoyed me. I cant explain why, but reading it i just felt like it was fake drivel. Hope im wrong.

I’m quietly optimistic with all this talk about Bunty. Hoping he can come in and be the old head our young forwards need to help them reach their potential.
Some Warriors fans I know said he was doing really well in NSW cup. Stuck in reserves due to having some super talents blocking his pathway in first grade - Leka Halasima and Jacob Laban. His numbers don't jump off the page, but his line speed is outstanding and he makes quality runs.

Whether Luai had a good year for ud last year is up to everyones opinion. I thoight he was amazing for us. One thing we can all agree on is his commitment. He always left everything on the pitch, the fact the guy with the C and the giant ego has seemed to back up a bit and change from what he wanyed cause its whats best for the team. He will have a massive year this year. If we arnt hammered with injuries and our depth isnt pushed too much we will be right in it in the last week for a finals berth.

Something I noticed for us and also Samoa is he almost set up the winning play a few times, but his team mates botched it. I'm thinking at Penrith the moment is likely iced and they would win in those situations. I wonder what causes this, perhaps he is so unpredictable at times even his teammates can't read him.

How have you skipped the obvious? At the Panthers he had the elitist of the elite playing alongside him who came through one of the best junior systems the game has ever seen. Cream of the crop. Here he had To’a and Seyfarth running off him. The drop in quality he’s surrounded by is glaring.

On the Dogs, what club gets to the top of the ladder after years of clawing their way back and then immediately punts their 7 and 9. Fair enough, Sexton and Mahoney aren’t world beaters, but it was working for them. On top of that, their 6 is hanging by a thread and by mid year probably won’t even be in the halves.

I loved Luai coming out in January 2025 saying we would play finals that year. We did improve a couple of runs on the ladder, from spoon to 13th, so if that was indicative I’m hoping for at least a 9th spot in 2026.

That's too easy of an explanation. Some of the guys involved in the botchings are good players and even include Penrith players, such as Blaize Talagi and Taylan May, and Sam Fainu was involved too.

I think having Doueihi at 7, big and hard to tackle, will create more time for Luai to do his thing.
Also with the KPP, T'oa, Bula and Turuva options this will create a defensive nightmare for the opposition. Hard to get the defence right for the whole game.
And the left side is also very strong. May, Sam F, Bula, Skelton/Makasini.
My dream anyway.

Thats the thing right. Luai can play both positions but really is a ball running 6 who shouldnt be tied down with all the organisational play. Luai and the club realised it, he could organise the team at 7 and do a decent job, but the Luai at 7 isnt in the same galaxy as the Luai at 6 that won 4 comps. We trid the exact same thing with Brooks for a decade but never got a proper 7 in to unlock him. By the time he left his career was nearly over.
