OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

They wanted Bula and Luai to leave (who have us currently 2nd) because we have two talented 19 year olds who’s never played an NRL game. It’s a cope instead of addressing why we can’t retain players.
No they don’t . They’re saying that a generational swap is inevitable and those 19 year olds will be 22/23 when 2028 rolls around .
It should help with retention as these kids will see a pathway but also be able to learn off a legend in the meantime .
Succession and future planning is as important as the roster today .
Young players like the Fainus and May brothers , by then will be well and truely the leaders of the team , it will be their team probably more so than Romeys .
Bula staying is preferable , but once again , we have the guys in the building who can replace him . Especially if we take up his option for 27.
This is how you plan for the future , whilst maintaining standards and minimising the dip .
And if he does go it will be a natural transition rather than like when Benji and Robbie were forced out too soon , it caused huge issues in the club . That were never repaired until now .

Just saw Channel 9's new report. He was certainly not trying to be incognito. He was even waving. Either Luai is a complete douche and has no respect for Benji and the club (which he has consistently said he does) or all parties were aware of his visit. It does astound me though that this has occurred basically at the same time of the year that the Galvin blow up occurred last year.

I see how this may actually be a positive with our current depth in the halves.

But we werent to know that this time last year.

Im just disappointed that in the middle of a hot run of form and our marquee player is overseas.

Its such a wests tigers thing.
Doesn’t Romey have to let the club know by May if he’s staying or leaving? Might be the clause driving the timing

Samuela & May’s aren’t contracted for that long. There’s already flaws in your succession plans. But I’m sure if Samuela decides to leave someone will say there’s a junior better than him. Lol

This isn’t particularly bad news.
By the time he goes, we’ll want him to go.
His replacements can use this as a deadline to get themselves ready.
We should start planning ahead now and bench Luai

We've looked after his family with a mutli-million dollar contract and he still wants to leave

Just select our best team moving forward, Douhie is a much better choice at 5/8

Luai literally hasn't iced 1 game in tiger's colours

The sooner he pisses off the better

You realise there are literally hundreds if not thousands of Aussie expats living and working there now ? Probably most getting paid less money and living somewhere with less security than what the NRL team will have
Are they high profile targets known to have oodles of coin? You lose so many liberties and freedoms just living in a compound especially as a celebrity in a third world country but if they are willing to make those sacrifices best of luck to them

We cant be this pety.
He still has an incredible amount of value to add to the team and it would go down like a led balloon with the rest of the squad if this is how we treat our marquee player

Benji would definitely be aware, and maybe even encouraging it to line up with a transition plan. Cant see luai not saying anything with the level of respect he has for benji.

Yep if you're Benji negotiating to Latu, having clarity on Luai allows him to map out a clear pathway into first grade in the halves . That is where he belongs. Its a Stom-type transition plan and good business.

This has upside for all parties
