Yep if you're Benji negotiating to Latu, having clarity on Luai allows him to map out a clear pathway into first grade in the halves . That is where he belongs. Its a Stom-type transition plan and good business.

This has upside for all parties

No. As long as it's all transparent . Players commit to clubs while still playing for another all the time. The fans are the only permanent fixture to any club this is just business to players.

Im two minded about his departure..he and Richo played a huge role in transforming the culture..and .im just not sure Benji has the capability to sustain it on his own tbh
On the other hand,he adds very little to our current playing roster..Madden and a fit Latu cld easily cover him..maybe better.
So its $1.2 mill we can save
But appreciate his input into getting us to where we are
I think he will go...tax freev $$...which makes Bulas retention critical

For sure. Nothing promised and all that. I am hopeful if he can get through this season with some consistent footy injury free he might break the curse.

I wonder if knowing Latu is waiting in the wings impacts Luai's thinking in anyway.

Yes but I remember something about Perth and PNG being able to sign players a couple of years out rather than wait for November deadlines. If so he could activate his clause and PNG sign him for 28 now.

Yeah, absolute non-issue.Luai's a professional RL player doing his due diligence regarding employment options. Fanciful for anybody to think the club would be unaware. I'd be surprised if there aren't more high profile players touring Chiefs facilities going forward; and I'll bet they all give glowing reviews, whether or not they're interested in signing on.
