I see this being suggested a lot. How do people not get it. And you couldn’t just release him to another club for the year, cos who is going to take that contract? It’s all pointless debate anyway. He’ll be here next year, and that’s that.
 
Gee 2 losses that just happen to be around his announcement , he has not been great I give that but he is not the reason we are loosing , we are down some real quality , outs - API , KPP , May Snr , Bulla , AD , all players who were performing nicely in our wins , the team does not have quality back up or players ready to step up , ( Haywood , Attard , Andrew’s ) not ready yet , Andrew’s would be one who maybe and I put him on bench at present only due to weak team again this week , we have improved our NRL team very much but we didn’t find enough quality reserves to come over and use as back ups , we will shop again this season for next and improvement will follow , Luai is not to blame , some players need a rocket for sure but he hasn’t been worst

Thats right (Sam Fainu instead of KPP now). Important to remember, all of them are starting 13, not coming off the bench or squad.
 
Have said it before and will say it again...coming into this season there were 3 positions I was worried about and in order of level of risk they were 9, 1, 11&12 we do not have any decent depth at all in these positions that are ready to play first grade. and the reality is that we have copped the worst case scenario where all 3 are out at the same time and are now dealing with the fallout. Hopefully we get our 9 and 1 back for the dogs game, which will be a must win. However Benji, Gallant and co really need to figure out what we will do if Api gets injured, suspended or starts to fade at the back end of the season, we desperately need a back up with solid NRL experience and can go out there and do a job for us.

Pointless discussion letting him go early because it doesn’t gain us anything.

Madden however proved he’s nothing more than a good backup 7.

Doueihi is playing better at 6 than Luai.
Or do you think Doueihi is the half when wearing a 7 on his back?
 
Jarome has never, nor will he ever, be worth $1.2m playing 6. The idea was that he would come across and move to 7, which was the position he played coming up through the ranks. He had showed glimpses at the panthers when cleary was injured, however that is a side with Yeo in it, who would probably be in the top 10 halves in the comp if he were to play at 7 or 6. At the tigers we needed him to play in the position that would give us the best bang for our buck and that was 6. The only problem with that is in my view you can have a good 7 with a crappy 6, however you cant have a good 6 with a crappy 7, and that's where our house of cards collapses. When i say a good 7 I don't mean Andrew Johns i mean a 7 who does better than an average job steering the ship and getting the attack to the right parts of the field to service the 6. We don't see that from AD (not his style) and we have not really seen it from Madden. Case in point is sexton and burton, burton was selected to play origin based on his last couple of seasons and would chime in with multiple line breaks and trys...now with a crap 7 he is playing like a busted backside. Unless Jerome suddenly becomes a 7 or we get a gun 7 that can organize the attack and set up the 6, than the best we can hope for is what we saw against the raiders where AD and Luai played that hybrid 6 and 7 depending which side the attack was.
 
It’s not the losses, because we’re all used to that by now. It’s the way he and his manager handled the situation. For anyone not to realize it’s had a huge influence on our team and their performance, you must be watching a different game.

He was completely transparent - Benji made that very clear.
The problem with our team atm is the players we have out and our lack of suitable replacements to cover for them.
 
When the chips are down,Id like to see effort and leadership
Instead we get 6 missed tackles..no line breaks..no kicking(delegated to Madden,who was uncharacteristically poor)
..and get a press conference post game where hes staring at the table with his cap covering his face,with zero attempt to engage and contribute to any conversation about potentially brighter future going forward.

I too wld be embarrassed taking $60k or so from that rubbish "performance".Im allowing for our outs btw..go back to my first line
Needs to wake up to where he is rite now and the next 18 months and not where hes gonna be in 2028
the legacy hes seeking will be shattered by more dud performances like that..

Completely disagree bad timing sure but the club & his people handled it reasonably well. Look at the team we’re rolling out and that’ll say a lot about why there’s a difference in performance.

Who do you want to spend the money on instead in 2027?
He has already picked up the option for next year so seems a moot point., also he seems a popular figure at the club .. so could have some negatives chopping him
