Don't think this will be a tough sell with how he's played this year, and we may need to tip in a chunk of his deal next year, but smart business by the club to move on.
In hindsight, even though he fell wildly short of expectations, I'm glad we took the risk. He is still the type of player that we should have gambled on, rather than overpaying aging players at the back end of their careers.

I won’t name them, but there is a couple of others that we are no chance of getting value for money out of anytime soon.

In retrospect, that post probably was aimed at the club now. It would sting the ego to be told you aren’t needed if you can find somewhere else.
If you are earning 1.2 million per year, you would just brush off any criticism that comes your way and get on with it.
He cannot help himself, maybe we need a culture re-think.
