Wouldn't surprise if the Fainu's manager forced the club's hand a bit. Not meaning he told the club it's Luai or the Fainus, just more around the $$$ and guarantees for the brothers (like Latu being in the halves in future, not lock or utility).

but why not just include this extra money in the next deal in 2028 when the club has so much more money to spend .., I mean they are trying to accomodate the family already with both the brothers ..: they have already both got a contract for 2027 .,.two way street right?

I mean how much extra are they going to pay Sam in 2027 ?

I'm sure this club exists just for the drama.
The timing around everything that happens at this club is a slap in the face for the fans and sponsors.
Why can't they do business like this in the off season? Is that too much to ask?!!
Rate Luai or not it still remains that no one has success at this club and can guarantee that a move like this if we continue to slide down the ladder - which is what usually happens when stuff like this happens - will do nothing to attract players. So over it!!!

Depends how much he is contracted for in 2027. Maybe part of an extension is to upgrade him for next year so we have more for other players in 28, 29, 30 etc.

Just one damn season without creating more headlines that make us the joke of the NRL?
Season after season we are the headline story, board members banned, entire boards sacked, players under contract just allowed to walk out, Richo sacked, sacked board members invited back, rookie coach given lengthy contract extension. Still no idea who is our actual board, still the club is run on minimal funding by debenture directors who are unable to be voted out and still are unable to accept that it is no longer Wests & Balmain. We continue to have to pay overs because the club is in shambles.
I am so exhausted by it all. 🫩

If we were swapping him for a player we need I would say get the deal done, but to balance the books and have basically the same roster, Iam worried.

Any club who would want him for 12months will want a sizeable discount on his current contract value. Also our brand name gets dragged through the mud again. Iam all for making hard decisions to make our roster stronger and if it achieves that than it will be worth all the bad press

What role do we think the anti Luai pro Madden camp influenced HBG into this decision.

Depends how many blazers each camp had on offer. But really, pro madden camp? Its really pro moneyball. Madden for $100k vs luai for 1.2m. But its latu or javon who i think we're freeing up for.

Depends on the club taking his contract. I doubt many would have that much cap still free for next year.

Perth makes the most sense. He can be the marque man for both new clubs.

Sorry but id need a whole lot more confidence in the HBG than you do to state something with the certainty you have here.

I just can't rule out them being involved. Can not see Benji thinking this is a good idea at all. He would not do Luai like this. He has the biggest say and I just can't see a world where he made that call. This is pressure from above.

HBG circus is an annual event sorry. I'm a firm believer they should bring in consultants to figure out whats going wrong ...... oh wait they did that already.

If he leaves end of 26 you can bet the new club will want us to pay funds towards his wages so yes it’s in our cap what ever we pay him not to be hear , at a pinch probably $ 500 k which to me is crazy to pay for a guy not playing for you , I would keep him

Which has been quite obvious to anyone objectively looking at Jerome's performances this season. Sadly, not too many have been.

No problem with criticism that is warranted, and some has been, particularly around value and form in the weeks after signing elsewhere, but to pretend that he hasn't been putting in is just plain wrong.

He is on around $550k … if this is the only reason they are doing this then I don’t really get it … I suspect there is more to the story as I said originally
