OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Re--iterates what I've always said - from a fans point of view early contract signings (greater than 12 months) should never be allowed. Causes too much disharmony, lack of effort, whatever. I know the usual comebacks will arise - players welfare, families, make a buck, set me up for life etc etc etc but a properly managed league with fast and solid rules and penalties for breaches would fix it up - but that will never happen. So as usual, the NRL wins, the player wins, the agents win, some clubs loose and the faithful, who pay for all of this one way or another continue to get shafted royally.
What are your concerns here ?

It’s the rules every club plays under … I can’t say I’m a fan but it is what it is … and in theory shouldn’t really impact us any differently to any other club

I won't be watching 100% footy and NRL 360 this week it will be shooting fish in a barrel stuff, really messy, can't stand it.
Actually from what I saw when it was first announced last week, the 360 panel were quite positive towards us making the decision, said it was good business sense with securing the Fainu’s and other young blokes coming through. I don’t think it’s as bad in the media as we think, it’s mainly been our own WT media making all the noise.

Yes, last week it was a 50/50 split on opinions, but with this latest loss be prepared for it to turn sour if not now the approaching couple of weeks.

At the end of regular season it should start plenty of time plus we are know the manager negotiates the contract behind the NRL's back

So basically from mid September till February and the season starts march plenty of time

We have aeroplanes mobile phones removalists theses days there shouldn't be a problem

And the NRL could also have a trade window for the last three weeks in june before heading into the new tax year

if he has backflipped on perth it would seem he would be heading to dogs or staying at souths.
He would be a good signing though, however I think the luai stuff has come a little late i reckon he back flipped due to interest from dogs
He was a ball boy for Wests Tigers during 2010-2013 because of his dad, wishful thinking but hopefully it converted him to being a fan lol

I reckon with Luai’s money being available we’d be able to offer him a competitive deal and then who knows

I see that the WTs have finally found out what they really bought in JL...1.2mil and hasnt really lived up to that price tag,he maybe a great guy etc,but he never reached the heights here as he did with the Panthers...why ? because in my opinion he had far more experienced and talented players to play with, here he has had mainly kids and fringe fgers..
I wish him all the best, our youth will get the opportunity to develop and be the core of the WTs for a few years while Benji and co start to recruit good players to compliment the team..
We don't seem to have the depth to put in place when our good players are out..

There’s one guy who comes out of all these dramas looking like a million bucks, and that’s Api. Given the way he’s carried this team the last 3 years, the blood, sweat and tears he has expended, if there was one player you could excuse for saying “F this. I’m out,” it’s him. Maybe he’s a masochist. Poor bastard.
100%

The St George game, it's close and Api leaves the field. Suddenly we give up and let through a bunch of tries.

I love Api, but I wonder if that is a part of the problem. Our team need to own the game and own the effort. Api is always putting in 100%, others are slacking off.

This sounds weird, I wonder if holding Api back a bit and let someone else start. Make the team own the performance and take more tackles. I wonder if it would get the rest of the team putting in. Thinking have Api come off the bench.

Sadly we don't have anyone crying out to be hooker. Really wish we did.

I dont know how amicable his dad's split was
from memory we got flogged by souths 54 to 10 or something and he re-signed the next day
it was very sudden

That to me is the major problem
...relying on API far to much instead of stepping up and backing him..as we all know the NRL isn't a one man game,if the players are in the top 30 they all should know how the game is played...imo,step up or step out.. this is what kills confidence and talent..RELYING ON ONE MAN...
