OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

I don’t have the same hatred for Luai as a lot of others. Came to the wooden spooners prove himself when guys like Cooper Cronk would never consider challenging himself at a lower club.

He wasn’t able to be Batman, but he gave it a crack. Today showed we don’t need him and by leaving we are saved from a salary cap mess.

I’m glad he’s leaving but no hard feelings from me.

Feel the same way

One cannot help but wonder how true the rumours of Richardson being at the point of having those clauses removed were. Then HBG got upset about a predominantly orange jersey and pretended otherwise to remove him and board members.

Injuries aside, the team was humming along in second place with a 5-2 win record when Luai was allowed to visit and then sign with PNG. The replacement CEO has since stated that the signing was the reason that our season fell apart.

Worse still, WT will be paying him another half a million or so to play elsewhere in 27.
Haha I just posted the same thing in the coach benji thread 😂😂

He was here less than 12 months and the club self imploded. Really cant blame him for taking a better option.

His two year tenure will be another unfortunate chapter in the clubs history…

I’ll say though that a lot of people defended his form until he decided to pull the pin…he was always the same player here over the two years …one good game out of 8,,,
Agreed.
Some people saw it from that first game v Newcastle in 25 but most didn’t until he went to PNG.
He had a lot of people inside this club and out completely fooled.

Obviously, I agree on that, as it all starts at the top.

Whilst likely due to their legal agreements we will never truly know, I think it fair to say that WT would probably be playing finals next weekend had the disasterous HBG actions not occurred and pretty well everyone here being a lot less worried about paying Luai too much. Even the plentiful amount that never liked him for whatever reason.

I am still [This word has been automatically removed]ing dirty on those bastards for ruining our off-season and likely our raging 2026 finals dreams, now for the 15th year in a row.

Yeah I remember thinking in the first half of season 2025 when was the magic was going to happen. There were glimpses but I don’t think we ever got what was on the label.

Including Benji !
He was a permanent fixture in a key position in the best team of the modern era of course Benji is going to play him - he was always the best option despite form. It was also the right decision to move him on next season.
We are always a couple of injuries away from being exposed and we were smashed this year rarely went two weeks in a row with the same squad available.
We call ourselves a development club and have rarely developed and or retained more than a couple of decent first graders in years.
There in lies the problem for any coach that comes to this club and the players that come from other systems who have never experienced what a 15 year rebuild is like, are not going to come without an inflated pay check.

I feel the same way until he left for png it’s seemed like his care factor went away a lot over that time and when he had in injury early and we won all those games without him
