So according to the smh today Jason Cayless is looking for a return to the nrl next season. Do i need to state the obvious? Yes or No?

I don't follow the English Super League all that closely, but unless his form has regressed dramatically since he was last here, I'd say a massive yes.

2 years ago, I would of been hell yes, go after him however he has been injured over the past 18 months i think and hasnt been playing too good….i perfer not to go down this road.

I rated him the best front rower in the World at one stage. But ive always wondered why the Kiwi's have never shipped him out for those one off tests matches, is it cos he's hasnt been aiming up the last few years?

Looks like Cayless and Ryles are 2 genuine options for us, but all would be settled if Laurie would just pull his finger out.

Bloody oath would I take him geez hes big and mobile and hits hard.

At this stage id take any prop, Hayes Lauder for crying out loud. At the moment we have Payten, Gibbs and Galloway as our only real prop options, and a real lack of size in the backrow as well. You cant take 3 props into the season….yeah theres Laurie, possibly Skando, Schirnack, Fifita, Woods but noone you can gaurantee will be there. Injuries happen. Its not uncommon for 2 props to be out at once. We had a handfull of injuries this year and Sheens talked it up as if we were struggling to field a team. The good teams cover these spots so when someones out someone comes in whose still decent.

We dont need anything flash, we need a bloke will who do what Skando did for us this year but with quicker and younger legs. Iam afraid unless Laurie improves 500% over the off season he does not fit the bill. Okay Laurie is good for crowd appeal and some impact, but he is no Skando and thats what we need to win the tight games.

Mate, I rated him also. He was awesome for St Helens a couple of seasons ago.
But he is also on good coin and I am not sure if we are prepared to pay over s for a guy who has been strugling with injury over the last 18 months.
I have always rated Ryles and he would be a good buy also but he might be going to the roosters next season.
We missed out on Ross (although i dont think we offered anything) but it would be good if the club put an offer out for either of these 2 guys.

Yep he was, and we haven't been back to that tree since July 2005.

poor player, never done anything at saints and has been injured all season, why do you think they wont give him a new contract

Cheers mate….No from me

Speaking of Props then forget Burgess, Graham and Crabtree....What other Props over their would look good in a Wests jumper.....How about you scout for us......any up and coming ones would be great....

While where on seasoned Props......How's Stuart Fielden going these days.....thought he was a gun a few years back...

Last we saw of him over here he was starting prop in a gun Roosters side that made 3 grand finals in a row.

While on props, we gave Ryan Tandy away because Sheens didnt rate him, the ABC last night gave him big raps. Thats why we struggle,we have the stars but we let a lot of good cheap depth players go because for one reason or another Sheens dosnt rate them.

we need to be careful with the money imo we go off giving 350,000 to ryles or cayless than we have to let Tuiaki go next year cause we cant afford to re-sign him cause we bought a over-rated prop
there isnt much off contract next year either so we wont have a lot to spend
