Jason Cayless

If hes anything like the other cayless.. forget it… however he was very good during the purple patch for the roosters when he was back in Australia... great buy if we can get him cheap along with turqiri!! Things are shaping up for the tigers 😛ray:

tiger faithful. I have contacts in the inner circle and jason cayless has been signed by the tigers. take it as gospel. lote is a chance but my contact believes the roosters will be hard to compete as they are willing to throw any amounts of cash legit and illegit at him

Sure you do, buddy.

Did your contacts in the inner circle tell you the tigers are offering Tuquri nearly 4 times what the Roosters are?

I know for a fact we are/have been in deep talks with him.

But so have other clubs…

woohoo!
Bring on the battle of the nameless sources and shady informants.
Who's version of chinese whispers will turn out to be the furthest from the truth…
stay tuned....

Jason Cayless would be handy but all the reports ive read have said that he has never recoverd from a shoulder injury.
Do we want another injured player??
If we buy him for 500bucks like we did Toupou,no problem but i would be weary buying a prop with dodgy shoulders for decent coin

Totally agree…was a decent player a few season ago but it is a major risk sigining someone who has not played for 18 months due to shoulder problems.
I am not convinced this would be a good signing. We have some good young players coming through and surely they should be our Priority not injured has-beens.
I would promote Andrew Fijita and blood him like Parra did with Johnny Mannah (sorry crap spelling). Good solid young prop.

I'd be more than willing to take a punt on Cayless, provided we don't have to pay an exorbitant price.

He with Fitzgibbon, lead of a pack of solid but generally unspectacular forwards to three grand final appearances. From memory the pack consisted of himself, Fitzgibbon, Catic, Bonetti/Wing, Cusack, Robinson, Flannery, Crocker and Ricketson. Obviously there's some good players there, but I would only consider Crocker and Fitzgibbon as elite. Cayless was a big, big part of their success.

An upside of the shoulder injury (assuming it heals) is that the rest of his body and his mind will be reasonably fresh. As a front rower, he's potentially got some valuable years left in him. Definitely worth a punt imo.

Adrian Morley was also part of that pack, and he was pretty much the leader of it.

Of course, pretty horrendous mistake there.

I'd still have Cayless and Fitzgibbon as the leaders in terms of making metres.

He missed a fair share of his games here though through suspension.

Provided we dont have any chance for Burgess next year, I would sign him on a minimal package (due to recent injury concerns) to help bolster the pack and get more metres off the bench with him.

I agree, but then Morley gave the pack that intimidation factor it had. It was a gun side, looking back it's easy to see how they made 4 Grand Finals in 5 years.

I like the thought of Cayless and Galloway up front.

It has a physical look about it.

Add Ellis in the 2nd row, Gibbs (And maybe Skando) off the bench and thats a tough forward pack.

You then got the hard worker in Heighno and the skill of Payten (If in form) and that forward pack has a good mix about it!

I havnt seen a lot of Flanagan so I cant really comment on him yet.

as long as they do not spend big on him, he would be a good buy.
i read somewhere in this threat tuiaki is off contract at the end of 2010\. if thats the case i would be doing some serious number crunching 2 make sure he goes no where if i were the tigers.

I agree Simon if we can sign cayless and or lima our pack really does start to look very good. ellis was great this year and with the addition of either or both those guys i am much more confident about next year. as we know forward injuries to Galloway and others have kiiled us in the past so having more cover in the forwards will be a great thing.

We are competing with Penrith for his signature, according to the paper today.

We will most likely lose out - when is the last time we've signed a player who other clubs were also trying to sign?
