Clubs will move players on to try and adjust their salary cap & allow them to re-align their rosters. The roosters moved on Jennings, Manly moved on a load of players, souths moved on Walker & Stewart to get Burgess back. The players still get their money, they get an opportunity and the club gets some flexibility.
Happens all the time, about the only players to spend as much time whinging publicly that I can remember would be Vautin when Manly let him go & Lewis when the Broncos did. Eventually they moved on, and played a number of less than memorable games for their new clubs.

I remember Lewis walking at Leichardt oval and destroying us.

I do agree that players get moved on and it should happen to Robbie as well. It just should have happened at the end of his contract.

Doesn't change a thing . If you don't want your club to pay the contract at the back end, DONT sign the contract. It's not Rocket Science
Don't rely on another club rescuing you from your self inflicted problems.

I completely agree with you. It's about handling a difficult with some class.

If this is about picking the best team Robbie should be in the team. If it's about getting rid of Robbie it's the wrong way to approach the situation.

From memory it was the board that signed Taylor, Mayer was left out of the negotiations.
It was Go and the board that signed him.

It was well before Marina Go et al came on board - it was Nick di Girolamo and co that did the Farah deal.

lol because JT has been so much worse than Potter, Sheens, Lamb and Pearce. Robbie played worse under Potter than he has for Taylor. And who, aside from Cleary (who has a job atm) would replace him? Matt Parish? Kevin Walters? Todd Payten? No one of note out there aside from Toovey imo

I think Taylor has been considerably worse than all those coaches excluding Lamb.

hahaha "considerably"? Feel free at any time to rationally explain that one.

Taylor ball & the Farah debacle. Those two put him pretty close to the top in my opinion.

If we finish in the 8, he will have done what no other coach has done and that will be get us to the 8 in his second season at the club. That will put him ahead of where Sheens was at after his first 2 seasons and will have us gunning for the top 4 next yr. And yet there will still be some that complain.

Lewis was moved on from Penrith without fuss, so was Stewart at Manly…Only difference is other clubs wanted them.

If we don't sign Taylor for 2017, which coach would want to come here an coach Farah after he has knifed and white anted the last 3 coaches?….seriously the sooner Farah goes the better....Remember Mick Potter, he was 100% right, he recommended the board NOT sign Farah for 4 years(only 2), but was over ruled by the then Great CEO Mayer.....

From what I read it was not as simple as that. If his contract was contracted to two years than the back-ending whatever would have been very severe. Farah is still playing terrific footie consistently, so he is still earning his money. The halves play terrifically but only for half the time - whereas Robbie never puts in a bad game.

Jennings, Soward, Peats, Morgan, Gibbs, Heigington, Galloway. All without a fuss. Farah and his supporters seem to thin he's above all that though.

Also Tim Grant from NSW to NSW Cup.

I don't think Robbie is above all of that. I just think that no one wants him for what they have to pay. I also think based on that reality it's better to just play him in first grade.

I don't think I am a Robbie fan though.

Nah. It's not like that with me. I reckon he is close to doing a really good job. The problem is in my opinion that he is making too many dumb mistakes. If he fixes that then I'll be a fan.

He has made a tonne of mistakes but he seems to be changing those mistakes. So we played dumb footy and now we are playing attacking footy. That was the big issue we had.

Then he went and sacked Robbie so that Halatau and Rankin could share the dummy half duties. If that isn't a Sheenius move I don't know what is. If he fixes this situation that he created then we may be cooking with gas.

And yet those same people reckon a Rankin/Halatau dummy half combination with Lovett in the centres is a great move.

I think I'd rather not be taken seriously.

Top stuff there mate.

Fair enough. Sheens did have a considerably better run. But Pearce had the Field and McGuinness cocaine scandals plus chose to resign whilst Potter had his own Farah (and Benji) debacle. Neither developed talent the way Taylor has nor did they manage injury the way he has. Taylor ball was a half-season thing that he had the humility to scrap after his players complained about it, although the bombs at the end of sets seems to still be a staple of our play. It took Sheens 2.5 years to move John Morris from the halves completely. Plenty of coaches would rather cut off their nose to spite their face when their tactics are questioned.
