JASON TAYLOR

After that game, the writing is on the wall for this season. At best it is a long pre season for players that are a little too young for first grade.

After 25 mins we switched off thinking this is going to be a walk in the park. The year we can play for 80 mins every game is the year we make a good run for the finals.

Enjoy the practice run for the next 17 rounds and see everyone next year.

Boy I hope I'm wrong, but don't think so.

Every game this season we have played well for about 20-25 minutes

Consistency is crucial in the NRL , you might beat the also rans occasionally but you won't beat the top sides

JT's decisions over the next few weeks are crucial , but many sides must look at our predictability with almost everything we do whether it be our kicking game ,constant left hand attack , the way we use our bench as a positive for themselves

Geez, it didnt take long for those knives to be out. I was giving you lot around Origin time to have those knives razor sharp.

Im going to invest in some defibrillators, I'll make a killing with you guys.

You can criticize a coach for poor playing structure, player selection & inability to drop players on poor form, but in this scenario there shouldn't be too much blame put towards JT as the club lacks depth.

What did people expect to happen in 2015? He inherited a club that is in a mess with half the squad needing replacing.

End of the day it's the players who walk onto the field and are given that opportunity to play their hearts out & win. Criticizing bench rotations only strengthens the argument that the current squad roster is weak & doesn't have enough depth.

JT should only be held accountable AFTER he gets a full season with the squad & also the opportunity to strengthen the squad with his own key signings.

Yes true but really having lodge play off the bench in state cup ???? Keeping buchanunn in the team over lodge, that was Taylor's call!!!
And a poor call…
If Taylor (now I like his style) but if he can't see that when with 15 min to go in the first half that we lose all our gun forwards?? And we generally start playing bad then, then he has a lot to learn...
Simple put tapow on the bench to start the game!

He cannot persist with having Taupau Woods Galloway and Farah all off at the same time for 20mins, it's just poor management of the bench. For Gods sake put Marty back to the bench and bring him and Lodge on when the 2 starting props are off.

At halftime, Canberra had all the momentum and were about to get the breeze, I was thinking that JT can't start with our big 4 forwards off in the second half, but well, he did and it cost us.

From now on we NEED at least one of Marty/Keithy/Woodsy on the field at all times, possibly two. The rest of our forwards just don't have the set starting runs that these three have.

He didn't have any choice: Keith was injured. Woods had just done 30mins straight and missed the clanger that resulted in a try

He obviously tried to roll the dice and put the game beyond reach in the first 30mins. If the two near misses from us were tries we would all be laughing today.

The breeze was always going to cost us points and field position in the second half.

He rolled the dice and it didn't come off. In hindsight woods needed to come off 10mins earlier and most of this would be very different. We would have had a more staggered rotation.

We lost the game in the middle. Everyone is blaming our halves…? We leaked 30 points to the raiders

Everyone should be just talking about defence.

I mentioned earlier in the thread about of a couple of rep players laughing after the game. Let me correct that, they were laughing in the last couple of minutes of the game while still on the field and about to beaten.

The person who reported it left in disgust.

If this was true why wasn't this thread started last Tuesday, or the Tuesday before that. I don't believe it is fair to post a thread like this after a poor loss. If you believe this then why are you only posting it now?

He is holding us back until we get used to playing tight games with his defensive structures in place, and then he will let our attacking players loose. We obviously aren't there yet.

Most professional coaches in any sport get criticised after a few losses thats how the club stays competitive, I believe our club can be competitive therefore the thread was started.
Holding us back'''' ok team if you see a chance to score! Dont we need to deal with our defensive structure????

In a way it is a difficult pill to swallow, though we are on a necessary learning curve for long term success. Since inception the Wt's have been a team without a structure, and now we are paying the price.

Today we showed we dont have faith in the system we have had success with, we didnt revert to basic football to regain or build momentum, we didnt get back into the grind to try change our fortunes, we capitulated… thats not a coaching issue, that rests on the players.

The best teams of the modern era have had football systems where new players can slot in seamlessly, the over all unit continues to run smoothly... think Manly prior to this yr, The Storm, baby Broncos over origin. Today was proof that our new system hasnt sunk in, it isnt second nature, and if we cannot grasp the foundation blocks, we obviously arent ready to further the education process.

Good post BW. Agree with you.

It was really disappointing loosing the way we did. Lack of defence let us down.
Quite a few missed tacles by the boys and unforced errors too.
I was so happy when i came home from work and put on the telly to see us leading 22 nil. It was down hill after that.
Did anyone else notice the dirty tactics by a few Raiders? Soliola and Austin blatantly pulling Woods and Kapows hair a few times. FPN having ago at Sue. And In tacles the way they were bending our boys arms back, looked so painfull. I was surprised the ref didn't penalise them for any of them. There was still hope we might win it at the last few minutes but that hope was gone, when we were short changed on a tacle and Brooks missed his tacle on Wighton etc. :bawling ..Like JT said… We got what we deserved.

I am now convinced more than ever that our pack needs a true no nonsense hard head. Beau Scott would have been perfect.

We haven't been flogged yet but twice now we have led by 20+ points and got beat. Bloody awful.

No money for players this year but OK to spend next year? The good ones are all but gone. Players signing with more than a year to go on contract? Roosters, Broncos and Bulldogs clean house well in advance of buying - we stagnate.

JT and Moss - I had high hopes.

They do it because they can against us. We have been a laughing stock for years when it comes to both mental and physical "toughness".

Anyone consider that the players might have been still carrying big bumps and bruises after getting cleaned up by the Warriors side last week, doubt that they would be the first side to put in an ordinary performance the week after playing NZ.
Still dont think we can carry Brooks and Moses in FG at the same time, one has to go to reggies.

Very likely they were carrying bumbs and bruises Rex. And they will all through the season. It's first grade NRL. U expect that. But to be in front, 22 0 playing against the Raiders in front of your supporters at Leichhardt oval, well..It shouldn't have happened.
The lack of defence let us down.:frowning:

Agree 100%

I have no issue with them doing it. Its up to us to be tougher.
